Godly felines
The ancient Egyptians were the first to keep cats as pets. Since then, cats have played a diverse role throughout mythology. They’re symbols in virtually all folklores and play an important role in myths.
- In Greek legend, the goddess of darkness is represented by Galenthias who transformed into a cat
- Cats symbolised liberty in Ancient Rome
- Bast, the cat god, was a goddess of the home in ancient Egypt
- In Amerindian myths, the God of Hunting is a wildcat
- In Buddhism, the cat is said to be under a curse

The Bast, had many festivals held in honour of their Egyptian cat god. During the Festival of Bast, thousands of men and women travel on boats where they sing, clap, and dance. The festival still occurs yearly, although it has changed in years past.

Could your cat be a god or goddess reborn (or do they just think they are)?
