Congratulations to Sharon. You are the winner of a Cat Igloo! We loved reading your entry, it brought a smile to all our faces
“Does it count if all your friends, family and visitors claim they all want to be reincarnated as YOUR cat ??”
Leave a comment telling us how pampered your cat is to win a Cat Igloo! The most original comment will win! Be sure to include a valid email address so we can contact you about your prize. The promotion ends on the 19th of July and the winner will be announced on Friday the 30th of July 2010.
Obviously each of us loves our kitty dearly, and want to create the most loving home environment, yet lately, what experts are calling ‘petocracies’ are becoming more and more prevalent in Australian households. A Petocracy is a pet-run democracy…where your furry friend has equal (or sometimes more) say in the way the household is run than its human inhabitants. To find out if your home is a petocracy, take our fun, easy quiz and discover whether you’ve been usurped as ruler of your roost!

It’s bedtime. You:
a) Put your cat outside for the night
b) Send him to bed in his cat-bed in the laundry
c) Let him curl up at the foot of your bed…he’s a good foot warmer!
d) Plump up the pillow in your bed that he likes to sleep on and make sure he has most of the blankets.
Your cat’s diet consists of:
a) Dry food only
b) Mostly dry food, with other morsels as occasional treats
c) A mixture of dry and wet food, with daily treats and a specially-designed eating plan to keep him interested and fit.
d) It depends on the day of the week. He likes steak on Mondays, liver on Tuesdays, and I bake him little foie gras biscuits on Wednesday….
Regarding drinking water for your cat:
a) He knows where his bowl is, and it is always full
b) You change his water regularly to keep it fresh
c) After each drink you tip out the bowl, clean it, and refill it with purified water
d) He doesn’t like his bowl so you strategically place cups around the house and leave the bathroom tap dripping…that’s his favourite.

The rules you have for your cat are:
a) Very strict—animals need discipline otherwise they get carried away.
b) Fairly strict—he knows who is boss but sometimes gets away with things for being so cute!
c) Quite lax—he knows how to get what he wants by using his kitten charm.
d) No watching Law and Order (the theme song bothers him), no staying out past 9pm (he gets lonely) and no dogs in the house (naturally)….Oh, you meant what rules do I have for the cat….
Now for the tally…
Mostly As:
You’re from the old school, and believe that cats need to firmly know their place and respect their masters. You’re diligent in setting up boundaries for your pet and value obedience, loyalty and good behaviour. This is a perfectly acceptable attitude towards cat ownership, just remember to let your hair down and have some fun with your moggie…after all, it’s what they’re best at!
Mostly Bs:
While discipline is important to you, you recognise the importance of a pet needing to fit in with the family’s lifestyle, not the other way around. You can’t help but indulge your furry friend every once in a while and you like to be organised in your approach to having a pet.

Mostly Cs:
Your cat is an important member of your family and you consider its needs as a high priority. You work hard to ensure your pet’s happiness and probably sacrifice a lot of time to its care…which is worth it for you because of the love and affection you get back in return.
Mostly Ds:
Oh, Mostly Ds, what are we going to do with you? You’ve given complete control over to your kitty commander–whoops, sorry—companion, but we’ll forgive you because, well, we love cats too! Just make sure you try to set some boundaries, as pets do respect leadership and need to know what behaviour is acceptable.

My cat Tigger, is so spoilt he has run of the house, he is fed twice a day the most expensive brands of food (because he won’t eat cheap cans), he will only drink water from a running tap, and thinks it is OK for him to walk all over me and position himself ontop of me wherever he likes. But i wouldn’t give it up for anything, he brings so much to my life.
caren gittleman says:
My cat (Cody) is an Aries kitty (he was born April 1st and is no fool!) Aries are ruled by the Ram and love to move head on into things. I had learned that Aries are very sensitive to soft touches to their heads and that a way to soothe them is to massage their brilliant craniums! My Cody is an independent little guy but also very loving. My favorite way to pamper him is to give him a “Kitty Head Massage”. I actually massage the temples by his little kitty forehead, I lightly run my fingernails along his Tabby “M”…..lightly scratch his nose and then massage under his neck. Then I start over from the “M” to his chin. His favorite is the massage by his temples. He puts his head back in kitty ecstasy with a huge kitty smile on his face. No massage parlor for my boy when he has his Mama as his personal masseuse!
anna says:
When I watch TV my cats loves to sit on my lap
Just so she has quality time with me I do not get up for any thing!!
This includes having my favorite snack, going to the toilet, or even a glass of water.
She rules!
Christine Elgar says:
My cat is the boss of the house, he sits waiting for me at the window and meows in complaint that I’ve left him alone and only feels better once he’s had a drink (straight from the tap) and soemthing to eat, then curls up on my lap. He also sleeps curled up next to me under the doona and heaven help me if I move!!!
Nora says:
Jolie is so pampered she has a spot at the dinner table whenever we have dinner.
Betty Pascoe says:
12 week old Poppy has usurped our two older cats from our beds, monopolizes the cat tree, refuses her kitten diet and steals her companion’s food, but is rapidly becoming a whizz on my computer. We love her!
Anne Hansson says:
Our cats are so pampered that I have chosen not to work so I can stay at home and be a full time kitty mum. I hate to think of them being lonely in the day or there drinking fountain water level has dropped or they can’t come and go at will and there is nobody here to open the fridge and find them something to eat other than their bickies or tin food.
Ninna Nilsson says:
I or my partner has to climb up a ladder to bring the cat down to eat her dinner. she refuses to climb down on her own from her “home” under the roof. After dinner and a visit to the kitty litter she climbs up the fly screen to her pad.
(I am now getting a catcage!!!!!!}
Tanya Towell says:
Charlie is a pampered princess who is carried around the house on the ‘royal’ cushion. She likes to sit in her chair at the dinner table, in the middle of us on the couch to watch tv. And every evening my husband carries her to bed. She gets very annoyed if someone has taken her seat and will sit on them till they move.
Diane says:
Home is where the heart is. My heart is with my darling black and white girl, Mimi – and wherever she is, is home for me!
Mimi had a terrible start in life and I cannot do enough for her to make up for it. She could never be called spoilt, as she doesn’t take anything for granted. Every pat is a special pleasure for her. Every cuddle elicits loving squeaks and purrs. Every bowl of food excites her.
Love shines from her beautiful big green eyes – and she gives the best nose kisses! An igloo would be like a haven for her, keeping her warm and safe.
sue petrie says:
my cat Salem is so pampered he gets away with murder he sleeps with me ,since moving back with my mum he now has become her pride and joy, he is allowed anywhere in the house, he sits for hours on my mothers lap during the day, As he is on a special diet because of his bladder problems he is only allowed Hills dry food but he still gets s a little tid bit every now and then. As he is an inside cat he is taken for a walk on a lead in the morning around the yard and he climbs the little trees.
As he is 14 years old he is getting cold during this winter so the heater is left on for him during the day but I do say he is watched that he is not to close. He has his own little mat to sit on near the heater. He jumps on all my mums friends when they come to visit even the ones who do not like cat they seem to get a joy of him .
Rachelle says:
She’s so pampered that all the other cats in our neighbourhood try to book our house for their holidays.
christina crofts says:
We have 5 pampered cats – a three bedroom house, one bedroom is the ‘winter room’ for the cats, but in the warmer weather they have an enclosure underneath our back deck with lots of nice boxes with cusions in them and some old dressing gowns and mats and I recently hung up some heavy ‘curtains’ to make it a little more enclosed for them. They are well trained and I lure them into the ‘bedrooms’ by ratting their ‘cat biscuits’ box. They have almost free run of the house and it is bedlam in the morning when I let them out of their room – they’re ‘everywhere’ wailing and jumping and leaping onto benchtops all hanging out for breakfast – they keep me busy!
Janet Smith says:
Our two cats (Brothers) rule. They have a personalised valet to open and shut the door to come in and out (at a time to suit themselves). They have food on demand, especially if we are having prawns. They dictate the terms and please themselves and if they want a pat or a cuddle, they touch you with their paw. Mostly to be found asleep on the doona, Smoky & Sooty live the life of Riley whilst the adults of the house bend to their rules. Even the dog is put in its place if they decide the dogs bed is good today, the dog is relegated to the floor.
Bev Bennett says:
He eats like a King, Sleeps like a Prince and plays like a playboy but most importantly he returns the love we give him like a Knight, strong and loyal.
Katy says:
My cat Bella is a little princess, who loves to boss her parents (us) around. She likes to sleep either between our heads or under the doona between our legs, very cute but usually only comfortable for her. She makes me walk her around nursing her like a baby with her front paws and chin resting on my shoulder. Yep she definitley rules our house but we love her for it
. Guess it’s a good job we’re nothaving children lol.
Lou says:
My pampered cat enjoys the finer comforts of life …. resting on the recliner chair near the open fire watching TV at her leisure, retiring to our bed for the night …. waiting at the fridge for her free range chicken!!!
Gail Beavis says:
My two kitties, Bogart (Burmese) and Magee (Abysinnian) totally rule the roost. They are indoor boys but have the most wonder Taj Mahal outdoor run with a tunnel going from a window so they can come and go as they please. My husband is forever adding another ramp or tunnel or climbing pole for their amusement. They have their own sofe in the ‘house’ and everything a kitty could want. Bogart likes to go for a walk each afternoon on his harness and is well known around the neighborhood and we of course, have to drop everything when it’s walk time otherwise there is no shutting him up. When we go on holiday, it’s only the best luxuty cattery for them, they cost more than we do but they are our babies and we love them to bits.
Sarah says:
In winter my cats will spend the entire day in bed unless I turn the heater on just for them. They each have their own armchair and no one is allowed to sit there.
Clarence Alderson says:
Our house is the cats castle
Peta Egan says:
Harry McPhail only likes cool, running water, so the tap in my bathroom is often placed on a ‘slow drip’ to allow him some much-needed refreshment. He has his own ‘snuggie’ on the couch and if he decides that it is cuddle time in bed, I must put the book down and allow him free range on my chest. If, in the middle of the night he needs a cuddle, he just sits on my chest and bites the end of my nose to tell me that it is wake-up-and-snuggle-time. Harry McPhail prefers ‘human food’ and often eats most of my morning porridge – on his own serviette – and he pops in and out during the day for a snack from ‘munchie bowl’. He has his own spot on the couch – don’t dare sit there, his own cat enclosure/greenhouse, special toys to play with plus a wonderful tower to climb on outside on the deck. I am still the boss though – he likes to whinge when he gets into trouble – but he knows how to win his way back into my heart – daily!
Gabrielle Ledda says:
fried rice is a favourite take-away but the shrimps go to Autumn because I get tapped on the hand if I forget.
Michele Shead says:
Hi,
Mostly “C’s” for me! I love my beautiful prize winning Ragdoll, great company and almost human! We share my bed, although she starts off on her own but comes in for warmth during the night and I wake up with her under the doona! She showers me with lots of love, rubbing her little face against my face and hand and purring so loud, when she wakes up to get me out of bed for breakfast. Sometimes I wake up and she is right there, an inch from my face waiting for me to open my eyes. She loves to go for walks, to the neighbours amuzement! Tinkerbelle is a fussy eater and I often give her some of my cooked meat or chicken and vegies, which she loves.

Jacqui Woodward says:
My cat’s name is Tiki, she is a Blue Tortoiseshell Burmese, who came from our Cat Haven when she was 7 months old. She had been handed in by the owner who had other cats which she could not look after. Tiki was a wild little kitten who had not been handled much at all, and was hyperactive, keeping me wondering if she would ever settle down! I have kept her inside and she is small but wields a lot of power in the house! Her winter routine means a hot water bottle which is put in her box morning and bedtime, she sit and sleeps on this, indeed waits and expects it! She is now 14 yrs old or so and has the food she likes and all the attention she wants, gives guests the once over and makes them know I am hers not theirs. I think if you have a cat it should be spoilt, otherwise what is the point of having one. She knows certain words also, bikkies, din din, hottie, beddies, which is her main interest. Hope this is of interest to you there. Regards Jacqui Woodward.
Avron Foster says:
My two beautiful girls have premium steak everyday (human consumption) I rarely eat red meat too expensive they have fresh filtered water everday clean bowls morning and night and in the winter I tur the heating on just for them oh and they have an electric blanket…..
Vanessa says:
Let’s just say, 7 indoor cats, 1 queen size bed, and a physio on speed dial!
Jeannie Moran-Fahey says:
Although I just scored mostly Ds, I don’t think my cat is all that spoilt, well not as much as some….but here’s a couple of little things: We live in a villa that is walled/gated. Sir Lucian can get in/out by scrambling up the wall and jumping over, but often he will just sit at the gate and meow loudly. He will just meow and meow until someone comes and opens it. He also just sits and meows and meows at the front door when he could simply walk around the side and come in through the open side door. One night we were all upstairs in bed and he (for once) had decided to stay on the cosy lounge, so was still downstairs. Just as I was drifting off to sleep he started meowing from downstairs. I thought he’d stop if I just ignored him, or, if he wanted to come upstairs, he would. But no. He meowed and meowed and did not stop. I was determined not to give in. ‘This is just ridiculous’ I thought. ‘I am NOT going to walk downstairs and get him, when he can get up here himself’. But no. Meow, meow, meow. So I gave in, went downstairs and got him.
Lyn Flegg says:
My cat Mischief has her own basket on my bed. In winter when this isn’t warm enogh for her she bats me on the head to wake me up and let her under the blankets. There she cuddles up to me, head sticking out on the pillow, lightly touching me on the face every so often to remind me she’s there. She also always has a lap to sit on or a heater to lay in front of.
Rebecca Tregear says:
My cats live a life of pampered luxury. In the winter, their basket gets put onto the couch directly under the heater so they can sleep in it and be warm all day. Of course, that means no humans can then sit on the couch! They are fed only the finest high-quality food, and every evening they have their ‘supper’ of biscuits and milk. At bedtime my Siamese crawls in under the doona between my husband and I, and sleeps curled up in the crook of hubby’s or my arm. If hubby and I are cuddling, he eels his way in between us thus indicating that all attention must now be diverted and lavished upon his feline self.
It’s a hard life (unless you are one of my cats).
Helen Schembri says:
I own the most adorable cats..they sleep with me all 6 of them. They compete for the attention constantly.
While one is biting my finger the other is snuggling into my neck, another is chasing my toes under the covers.
they all lie in front of the computer whilst I try to gain control of the keyboard.
they all have different tastes in food so I spend quite a lot of time cooking to cater to individual menus.
now I ask you..WHO OWNES WHO????
And then WHILE mums away the Cats will play and they runamuck tipping over plants and swinging off the curtains, I am sure they think well THIS mess will teach her to leave us home.
My cats give me great joy and are wonderful loving companions.
Shelley O'Reilly says:
I finally realised that my house was a total petocracy when my back started aching after I had spent about an hour crawling around every rug in the house, brushing them with a clothesbrush and dustpan and broom – all so as not to disturb my boys with the noise of the vaccum cleaner (which they hate) since they were sweetly and picturesquely curled up by the heater on a rainy afternoon.
Robert Parsons-McDougall says:
Our two cats Boots and Sherlock, baisly run the house, but are much loved and get tid bits whenever we cook. They are welcome to sleep on the bed, not just at the foot end, but actually under the covers with us, that is until they get to warm. Their foo (wet & dry) and water bowls are checked daily and refilled regulary. Would miss our cats if they went missing and would post a reward for safe return to thier loving home.
Miriam Christina Johnson says:
Well my house is well and truely cat ruled!
Bedtime is the hardest as there are so many furry people on my bed its really hard to find a corner of the bed for me to curl up into a ball and sleep! Natually I’m single as I couldnt fit another human in here!
Jay Page says:
Our cat has always slept at the end of our bed, though recently we had a baby and ever since our cat has slept in between myself and my husband. SHe will tap either one of us for a pat through out the night, we respond with a pat and a cuddle and return to sleep.
Shellbaby says:
I brush her and she also sleeps in bed with us and she gets the best of the best of Catfood, she is always happy
Deb Leask says:
My cat sleeps on the sofa in the day while I sit on the floor at night he moves to the bed and makes himself comfortable while I have to slide in around him. I also have to sleep some nights in another room with my daughters cat so he doesn’t get lonely.
Jenny Fenbow says:
My cat Timmy managed to change my laptop settings so that everything was in Spanish by marching all over the keyboard with a grumpy disposition. He couldn’t possibly understand why I would want to spend time on the computer instead of enjoying his kitty cuddles. He’s accustomed to being the centre of my attention.
Jenny Bourke says:
My cat Nakita has its own bed room with a full size bed but she prefers to sleep in an old cat bed on top of the bed. Some nights I will sleep with her where she will curl up in my arms to sleep much to hubbys dismay.
Kylie McTaggart says:
A day in the life of our boys:
4 to 6 am – Talk and scratch on doors to get outside.
7 am – Wake mum and dad up again for 1st breakfast crunchies.
8 am – Follow dad around until you get a tipple of milk.
9 am to 5 pm – Snuggle and snooze on some comfy couch blankets or a warm Foxtel box. If mum and dad are working a home, their paperwork is even better.
5:30 pm – Smooch and smooch until you get tin yummies
6 to 8 pm – Explore the neighbourhood until you’re hungry
9 am – Sit by your bowl and talk until you get more food then sit on mum and daddy for lots of tummy rubs. Then get up and talk until you get more food. Have a little snooze. Get up and run around the house. Talk to get more food. Et Cetera.
Leone von Borstel says:
My cat used to rank up with mostly C’s but alas, she has now been relegated to mostly A’s as competition in the form of a baby is due to arrive soon. For this I feel guilty, but it is necessary after finding her in the pram and the basinette! I am hoping when baby is old enough Paws the Cat will be promoted again, but she will never be Sargeant Major of our house again!
kathy kirwan says:
Our Timiny is a 16.5 year old cross breed oriental. He has his own electric blanket for winter, and has his own ‘cat mat’ (so he doesn’t get a cold back-side on the lino). He sits between us on the couch, unless I am bad mannered enough to talk too much. If I do, he will get up, walk away and sit with his back to me. He must be fed his half tin of fancy cat food when I walk in the door (in the morning when I get up, or in the evening coming home from work). ‘Seniors’ biscuits must be available at all times. Patting is acceptable almost all the time, and he particularly loves having his tummy massaged. He must be responded to when he speaks to you (if you don’t the nagging intensifies). He likes to play a game of “catch my tail” (when he is in the mood). He objects to being kept in at night (even though this has always been a strict rule in our household) and works hard to be the next coming of Houdini. Always a dignified cat, as he has gotten older, he is very aware if you laugh at him, and demonstrates his affront by turning his back on you.
Chris Lake says:
Cups of boiled filtered water all over the house, yes, including on top of cupboards where she likes to oversee her Petrocracy.
We have a concept at home called “Trapped-By-Cat”. If she’s comfortably seated or more importantly asleep on us or any part of our anatomy, we don’t move, lest we disturb her precious sleep – no pee breaks (unless bladder is really bursting), no doing chores (unless house is on fire), no reading newspapers, no playing Wii (the rustling of the pages & Wii noise disturb her). And boy, do you know how many hours cats can slumber??!!
Her favourite fabric is boucle but not just any boucle – it MUST be Victoria’s Secrets. How’s that for original!!
Janice says:
My cat Rusty is extremely spoilt as she has her own pillows, cot sized mink blanket and a adult sized beanbag to sit on of a night. However as I love her so much she is well worth it.
Gail Garzaniti says:
Our cats are so pampered, we treat them like one of the family. We talk to them on a daily basis like they were human. If someone is in the seat they want to sit in we get up and let them have it. Whenever I go to the butchers, while I am putting the meat away I always put some aside for them, they are my good butcher radar. If they sniff and walk away from the meat, I know not to go back to that butcher.
Darelle Sutcliffe says:
My cat Remington Steele knows he rules the house he sleeps where he wants and if hes extra hungry will knock over the indoor bin to find something extra to eat. He like to eat corn chips and potato chips but doesnt like salt and vinegar at all and turns his nose up when I eat them. He sleeps wherever he wants to on top of cupboards and the fridge. He lets me know when he doesnt like what Im doing and hell want to play chasings wiht me when he wants and he thinks he owns my sons pet rats.
Linda Clements says:
I have a Burmese named Mowgli and a Ragdoll named Meeko. My 2 cats are very spoilt, they are mainly indoor cats but we do take them outside sometimes on a lead in the backyard. They like to drink from the taps or the shower so I bought them a cat water fountain! They also sleep in bed with me and my fiancee. I sometimes move over so I do not squash Mowgli and she ends up with more of the bed and blankets than me! I love them both very much. Thanks Linda
Katrina OConnor says:
My darling shadow has filter watering running 24/7 as i have a Drinkwell running for him and i give him fresh chicken breast fillets and he loves to be nursed like a baby all day if i let him. loves to sleep on our bed up up near to you. I would do anything for our darling ragdolly kitty
Veronica Clayton says:
With a choice of kangaroo fillet, prawns, fillet steak, pork or chicken mince along with fresh cat meat at night and having dry food and clean water available all day long, the only other thing to offer my two precious felines is a can of the most expensive Dine cat food for breakfast – with over 20 choices. No wonder they love me and vice versa
Terri O'Connell says:
My friends ask me why I haven’t brought a heated sleeping basket for my two cats. I ask why would I? They kick me off the half of my bed where the electric blanket is on everynight. I’m the one who needs a heated sleeping basket!
Rosie says:
My darling Brucie-Boo doesn’t like to drink out of his water bowl but waits for me to get up in the morning or home from work and bounds into the bathroom, rolls on the bath mat for some pats and jumps onto the basin where he waits for me to turn the tap on (not to heavy, not too light of course…it’s got to be just so) where he gets his fill and then runs off and ignores me until it is time for another drink.
Colleen Duncan says:
While I am writing this Floyd is sitting in my lap, with his head on my right arm, so I can only type with my left hand – so this is taking a while! I can eat at any time, but Floyd, once he mioaws at 4pm, gets fed. On the weekends, I don’t get to sleep in, because I have to get up since Floyd will sit miaowing at me from about 7am. He then needs a cuddle and to go out on the balcony – for all of 5 minutes – and then will come in and I can go back to bed, with a warm cat taking up the middle of the bed.
Just last week I had huge muscle pain in my back, due to Floyd climbing on the bed when I wasa asleep and making a nest between my legs. I ended up sleeping twisted around on my front all night, but my legs weren’t in line with the rest of me – all so I didn’t kick Floyd – and it was done unconsciously!
robyn stokes says:
My Husband moved the single lounge chair from a room to place near the fire to keep warm. Yep you guessed it, smokey cat has taken over. There are other places she can sit but nop. Maybe its her way of saying she needs her own Cat Igloo…Meow……..
Marg Cordell says:
My cats make it clear where they stand on issues, they hold their ground when I step into their territory and I back off. They dare to be different with their unique potential to be leaders and not followers. But always have time for a cuddle.
Shane luskie says:
Our cat “Ice” wakes us up at 5am to go out for the
morning, later sits outside the window meowing to be let in at 9am, quick feed then he meows to go back out, if no notice is made of meow, he jumps all over the furniture and makes a kafuffle until let out again to annoy the neighbors dog and stalk the local turtle. Greets me on the pillar at seven pm for a smoochy and then in for a quick feed and then out again till 11pm covered in filth from hunting, lies on End of couch cleaning furiously and being nonchalant until bed time when he sneaks into the bed and licks my armpits which feels very disturbing, eventually curls into a tight ball or unwinds like a outstretched bow and purrs loudly… Until 5am, claws pressed lightly into skin, face pressed against mine, it’s a whole new day.
He’s pure white, Persian and Tonkinese, an avid hunter despite a loud bell, known to leap suddenly out of trees, gets on well with dogs and is very talkative and quite snobbish even though his family comes from
farm. His mother was poisoned, his father run over, his brother has disappeared. I worry about Ice, and hope our guidance will keep him on the straight and narrow. Even though he’s a snobby stroppy soul, he is very cute and I swear I can even see him smile.
k.lee says:
if they want, my cats always get first taste of whatever i am eating at the time. it doesn’t matter if its breakfast, lunch or dinner (or snacks!), if they want to have some, they will jump up on me and wont let me eat until they have had a bit.:)
sharon gardner says:

carol knight says:
Rigging up a system to the birdbath so it has permanent water
Cats favorite place to drink
No the birds are not in danger all drink peaceably
Virginia McLellan says:
Both my cats share a single human bed in “their” beroom which they kindly allow me to share with them so they know where I am at night!
Marty Fletcher says:
our cat definitely rule the roost as she was a rescue and we want her to be as happy as possible!
Tamara Weyman says:
TigerT – rules the house! Wakes his servants up at 5:00am for head massages. Requires the laundry tap to drip so he can drink fresh water when needed and wishes his food to be topped up after each nibble during the day. Demands attention when servant is working on the computer by sitting in front of the keyboard and screen and if satisfactory outcome is not achieved he launches a cat attack on the servant’s legs. Servant has to take his highness outside under strick supervison until his majesty wants another drink from the laundry tap. He then sleeps with a do not distrub positure on the servants’ bed until male servant comes home from work whereby head messages are a priority. Prior to servants bedtime cat play is mandated followed by comfy slumber taking control of the bed and blankets until early morning when his routine begins again.
Sonya Jackson says:
My baby Ziggy…..
She is my gorgeous baby girl
She has cute white socks and a little white chin
She is so soft and cuddly
When she looks at me with her big beautiful eyes
I can never say no to her!
I love it when she curls up on my bed at night
The way she chases her own tail
The way she loves to hide in boxes
The cute little hiding places she always manages to find
The way she greets me when I come home after work
She never judges me or calls me names
She keeps me company when I am sick or lonely
She loves to jump up on my desk when I am trying to type
She makes me laugh and smile every day
My Ziggy…..I love you…..
Em says:
My cat can come and go in the house as he pleases – we are his masters who open and close the back door for him at his every whim. He has a soft sofa to sleep on each night, and after scrumptious meals he rewards our attentiveness with unmatched rat and mouse hunting prowess.
Dalene Cronje says:
My cats (2) are not my cats…..they are my children. I cannot imagine my life without them. I have Mister, het is 9 years old and his name says it all. He is a grumpy old man who lives in his own part of the house – his territory, where his little sister, Maxie cannot rule. Maxie is the queen of the house, she rules the family and Mister, sometimes she gets a slap from him. Maxie has been taught to play ‘fetch’ and everyday we play, I have to lie on the floor and she will play hide and seek with me until we find her little ball, and oh dear if that specific ball is hiding somewhere and she cannot find it, I have to get the torch and we will look under the couches and beds together until we find it. Then the fun starts. I will throw the ball and she will run and pick it up in her mouth and bring it back to me until she’s out of breath and then she would put it where I cannot reach it. She will also hide the ball in my shoes.
Kind regards

When I first bought my cat Oni we had a toy hanging from every doorway in the house and I buy her grass door matts because she loves to chew them up as well as rolls of toilet paper.
Lynnelle says:
I am definitely a D person. My cats absolutely RULE the house!
Gayle Cheney says:
My three cats are quite pampered, but they also know the rules. They are allowed to sit on the chairs, but have their own beds, and the dog’s bed occasionally! The always sleep in the family room at night away from human beds, but given the choice they would probably choose our bed.
gaye millman says:
We know the lions are the kings of the jungle, well in our house our cats are the king and queen of our castle. They manage to wrap us around their paws, we dont mind though as they give us so much love and pleasure. If there was a cat heaven on earth, our house would qualify.
Kay Nicholas says:
My cat is pampered. She loves fish and over time, my shopping has extended from the nicest (and priciest looking tinned catfood, to tuna in springwater (for humans), and now to the deli section of the supermarket where I buy her fillets of fresh basa fillet or pink ling. The other day I even bought her some snapper because she was looking a bit down, and whenever we have prawns, I always slip her one or two when preparing them. No wonder she comes running to me when its meal time!
SJudy Mosey says:
Feeling the cold I decided to knit a knee rug, knitting it with furry and plain wool in 5 inch squares. As I knitted, the three cats would fight for a position on the piece I had sewn together, as it enlarged they were in seventh heaven. Finally finished, they took it over. “So much for my cold legs, they each had their spot, and if any dared to pinch their spot, they`d sit down on top of the offending cat, to make it move. Me?, I`ve still got cold legs. I think I`ll have to knit another rug for me.
KERRYN RAE TOWNSEND says:
My cat is so pampered that after her last grooming session she was allowed to sleep in the bathroom every night with the heater on until her fur grew longer.
Sandra D.Ryan says:
Fraid I fall into the”C” catergory, totally spoilt monster who takes over my chair, leaving me to go play computer games, loves to play gotcha, even though she is 8 years old, insists on eating her meals with us, dos,nt like to dine alone, the man must go and catch her fish and crab, supermarket fish just dos,nt meet her tastes and if we go away have to have a house sitter so she is not left alone
Joan Klinkhamer says:
Raffles is larger than most cats and rather than a takover bid, he makes a takeover “bed” every night. Obviously the electric blanket must be on, lighting subdued, glass of water at the bedside table and Raffles comes up to the top, lies flat on his back with legs going in whatever direction the fancy strikes
Sasha says:
My 5yo moggy, aptly named Sumo, not only controls my house but also my mothers and grandmothers. She has me trained to turn on the shower at her will. When she’s ready for breakfast, she wakes me by sitting on my chest and pawing my face, if no response a paw to the eye, if still no immediate response a claw to the eye. She spends her days moving from her pink fluffy doughnut in the sundrenched window to her comfy beanchair. Her favourite foods are strawberries, steamed broccoli (still a little crunchy) and bread (though unfortunately the list doesn’t end there). When I’m away she demands the same respect when she stays at my mothers house, where the fruit bowl is under constant threat of attack and must be hidden in a cupboard for it’s own protection. When we visit my grandmothers house, she never forgets where the bread bin is (or unfortunately how to open it when nobody’s looking), nor how to get smooches from all occupants of the house.
Sumo’s a very spoilt girl who is not like any cat I’ve ever lived with, the above is only a very small snapshot of the pampering she receives/demands, but I must go as she’s just requested her daily brush/smooch session…
Karen Jones says:
My cat Grace is SO pampered that I apologize when I try to move to a more comfortable spot in the bed and I disturb her beauty sleep. I sleep curled around her while she lies right in the middle of the bed, on the top of my expensive mohair throw. I leave my rear end facing the elements so as not to disturb her. Then, just as as I manage to drift off to sleep she will snuggle up closer to me and yawn so I can share her yummy tuna breath.
Anne Fowles says:
My fluffy fat blob is so gorgeous – she rolls over at my feet, squeaks and expects a good tummy-rub, with which I unhesitatingly and lovingly indulge her.
Elaine Sheehan says:
Anyone who thinks an animal can be outstared and made to look away hasn’t met Andrew, my grey and white cat.
He can unflinchingly glare me from any chair in the house, my warm place in the bed and the best position in front of the electric fire.
Incidentally, I scored mostly “c”.
Verna van Wijngaarden says:
My cat Billie (originally bought as female, Millie, hence he is now Billie) – is a 5 y.o. chinchilla cross, very hairy, he has his own mind and is the boss of the house, an inside cat but likes to go outside under supervision to eat some grass which helps with his hairballs. Always a problem when I go away as too much trouble for friends and family to look after so goes to a cat/dog kennel – that is always fun catching him for his journey as he knows something is going on so we play hide and seek. I love him dearly and would not part with him, now winter is here he loves to sit on the couch with me in front of the fire.
Lynne Smithson says:
He is curled up on my favourite seat while I am sitting on a separate seat.
Jenny Keyter says:
I gave my perfectly good reliner chairs away as Mickey (my adorable Scotish Shorthair) used to get in from underneath (until I stuffed the gaps with cushions) and I was worried he might get caught in the mechanicism and also no guests. were allowed to recline on the recliners as that created a gap where he would take the window of opportunity and climb inside the chair that way.
Chris says:
Our cat’s have the complete run of our house. I recently gave them my favorite jacket to sleep on which I had only worn once or twice and they get the best o all world even eat at the table with us at mealtime even though they do sit on the floor.
Debbie G says:
Pampered? You haven’t seen pampered until you see our (2) black cats. They sleep on my kids pillows and get carried around the house. They get brought in at 4.00pm everyday and get fed three times a day.
Kate says:
I live in the country, so hearing roosters is not an uncommon sound. However, the rooster that lives closest to me seems to be somewhat confused, as it crows at between 4 and 5am (while it is still dark and inccredibly cold). This is no problem for me, I sleep straight through it. Bosco, however, thinks “goody, breakfast time” and bats at my head with his paw until I get up and feed him. And if I don’t get up and try and hide under the covers he will climb under the covers with me and continue to bash me up until I feed him. Of course, I go back to bed afterwards, which is just what he wants. Once he’s finished breakfast and going to the toilet, he climbs under the covers and sticks his freezing cold feet onto my skin to warm up and have a cuddle. But I don’t mind, it shows how much he needs me and loves me.
bev winks says:
my cat sooty would loves igloo as he loves hiding in shopping bags and cardboard boxes
Margaret Croft says:
I am Soleil, Mummy’s beautiful tawny Somali. My brother Marcel and our moggy best friend Shadow are here with me reading Cat Diaries. We love looking at pictures of other cats, and are upset that mummy doesn’t know how to put our photos on the computer. Silly mummy, but we do love her. She is only human after all! We want to win this competition. Please, pretty meow please! Oops, mummy is coming, better go.
PS What is this human word, pampered? It isn’t in our vocabulary.
CPolo says:
Our cat is very spoilt. I know our friends raise their eyebrows at his water fountain (cat-it) as it pumps water around, fully filtered! He has a tunnel that he can run through, two scratch poles. Though I have bought him special cat toys, he likes nothing more than running around with a pair of gloves or a ball of paper. He is very down to earth to say he is so spoilt. He sleeps on our bed each night and my husband will stay in the same position all night, so not to disturb Wilson! I think that is a bit too spoilt – that is why he sleeps on my husband’s side as I always have to move him. He gets all he wants, except then! He gets the best biscuits and food we can afford. We think he is a bit spoilt, but we made him that way and he is part of our little family.
Tabatha says:
My Ant sleeps in the guest room on the bed, when we actually have people staying, he still sleeps on the bed, and hisses and grumbles at them if they move too much.
Audrey says:
Our two ragdolls Fidel Catsro and Angelita Catstro are so pampered they lie on my boyfriends chest at night and he puts a water glass next to the bed for them….. they get fed woolworths chicken breasts and anything we are eating – but they only eat from a fork if you hold it for them – THAT is pampered
They alsoget taken for drives in the car cos they love it
Helen Hayes says:
My cat(s) spend more time on my bed that I do in it! When it comes to making the bed if they are on it then it gets made around them so they don’t get disturbed and if that is not possible then it just gets tidied up without being properly made. I have to admit they are rather spoilt.
Emily McDonald says:
My cat is so pampered she gets her blanket replaced every second day, and she has a electric blanket in winter, as well as a bowl of warmed cat milk before bedtime. I know this may be a bit extreme, but I love my cat so much!
Carla Blocksidge says:
My cats love minced kangaroo meat with fish morsels mixed through. If it’s a cold day I usually warm it up a little in the microwave and stir it so that it’s an even temperature all the way through. Am I a slave to kitty cuisine or what?
sharyn gumbleton says:
I leave the electric blanket on for my furry feline friend during the day
in winter, he just loves it and does’nt get up till about 3 in the afternoon
ready for his tea of raw kangaroo meat.
Jeniffer Black says:
I love my cats and try to keep them as happy as possible within reason. I believe a good family environment along with a cat or two or three can give our lives such joy. My cats have all the necessary care to keep them healthy and comfortable but they do love a hug once in a while especially on cold winter days…. They curl next to the oil heater which can be a problem as they are in the way of everyone. That is why it would be wonderful to have a cat igloo for them…
Sonja Cooper says:
Nuzz, Prickles & Little Miss Marbles are pampered pets for sure.
Thirsty??? Just turn the tap on, that’s their favourite place to drink.
Tired??? Better move over they need a place to sleep.
Hungry??? They have me trained for their treats.
Bored??? Time to pounce on the dog.
Snuggle Time??? Just sit still…their claws don’t hurt that much!
Suzanne Dawes says:
Pampered!!!! Mr Raffells my 3 months old Himalayan, is not a cat or a human, he some sort of superior being who has taken over my life completely.
Oliver my 8 year old Maine Coon can no longer enjoy the life he once had, his only solace is that Mr Raffells cannot jump up on one of the window sills, YET!!!
He doesn’t have just his own special things like a super soft blanket he owns everything in the house.
He is so spoilt that he even has a pair of my old reading glasses to play with because he wanted mine (I would have gladly given mine to him but then I wouldn’t have been able read his favourite books to him) He can and does get away with everything, I can’t help it he is cuteness personified, and in return he makes me laugh when he is in kitten overdrive and melts my heart when he is in love mode. I LOVE & ADORE HIM so what harm will a little pampering do.
jane says:
jingles is spoilt rotten gets cooked meal and sleeps in the bed also has his own chair in the lounge, but wouldnt change it love him 2 bits.
Joanne Troy says:
Sorry I don’t own any cats, just “four legged furry humans”, or so they think!
amanda gorton says:
I adore my cat so much that once a month he is pampered with a cut and condition. He has a private room in my home where he has his own heated cat bed for the winter. His meals are cooked along with mine as he only will eat fresh chicken mince and particular vareties of fresh fish. They say a cat takes on the personality of his owner – mine has just taken on the literal living of my wine lifestyle tastes while I live on the beer budget!
Helen Loucas says:
My 2 cats come first. When I get home from work their demands are met before I get changed or prepare my meal for the evening. My daughters complain that I give the cats more attention than them and the new man inmy life knows that he comes second to Merlin and Lucifer (he was told from the beginning “love me, love my cats!!”)
Jo Gregory says:
My cat Tommee will finish everyone’s cereal then finish the kids milk using his paw dipping it into their cups, then he has his own breakfast
Helen Sherrott says:
Squeak, my cat, is very fussy with what he eats. He eats Fresh Beef and it can only come from one Butcher. We have tried the Butcher and Supermarket close to home but he prefers the meat from a Butcher in a different suburb.
irene says:
To the tune of “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets”
Whatever Diesel wants, Diesel gets
hey humans, little Diesel wants you
Make up your mind to have no regrets
remind your self, resign yourself, you’re through
always get what I aim for
And your attention and service is what I came for
Whatever Diesel wants, Diesel gets,
Get off the bed
Don’t you know you can’t win?
You’re no exception to the rule,
I’m irresistible, you fool, give in!…Give in!…Give in!
Fiona Erhardt says:
Our cat refuses to go outside when it’s cold and never when it’s windy! She’s not too pampered, as she’s not a cuddly cat – she only comes to us when SHE feels like sitting on a lap!
Barbara says:
My kitties, Tigger and Misty are waiting for me when I return home no matter where they have been. They run in front of the car as I drive in and Tigger presents me with a leaf (he knows I don’t like cockroaches). They rush in the house as soon as the door is unlocked and into the kitchen to wait for food. At night they sleep either side of me. Whatever room I am in, they are there with me. They are my friends and apart from food and shelter, are there for me. They deserve a little pampering in return for what they give to me – love, companionship, company, loyalty.
Peter Bradshaw says:
Our Lucy waits till we are really settled in bed with books put down, then she comes up from the foot of the bed and tries to lay her head on the pillow between my wife and myself so she can settle down herself for the night
lisa fairbridge says:
My cat is so pampered that he sleeps on my pillow and he meows at me when it is bedtime to say “well are you coming or not?”
Lesmar Debrincat says:
“You expect me to eat that! I wouldn’t feed it to a dog”!!
Pauline Khong says:
My 2 fur babies have their own plastic mug of water which sits on the bench next to the sink they like to be like their human family and won’t drink out of a bowl, it is filtered water ( can’t have the precious furballs ingesting yucky chemicals ) and refreshed/topped up several times a day. They chose who to sleep with but have 4 different snuggley pet beds around the house, for those times they want to be alone, but big enough for both to curl up together as well. When they curl up on our laps or beside us when watching TV, whoever has the priviledge of having one or both kitties will seldom move unless forced too, as we don’t like to disturb them – cats definitely rule! Chaos 9, yrs old & Mya, 7 yrs old, are very special and precious family members.
Eleanor Bennett says:
Dinner needs to be promptly at 5pm otherwise there is no peace in the house. With the cold weather a fire must be lit and when it beocmes cool we are told more wood is required. A cuddle is a constant requirement so Tigger jumps on my desk and has a different look on his face which indicates time for a cuddle but when has had enough he jumps off. When he comes in from his run outside there is a very loud meow to find out where we are. We love our Tigger
Tory says:
I have a magnet on my fridge; (Chores List – Let the cat out, let the cat in, let the cat out.) Pretty much says it all. One cat has a favourite cushion to sleep on and the other will sleep in anything that is no way meant to be a bed. Its amazing how often we move when a cat has pinched our spot on the lounge and they are always welcomed in our beds, although not on the pillows thanks.
Cassaly Pihodnya says:
Monty is so pampered he has a rug on the couch, in the kitchen by the fire, on the bed. He recieves freash roo meat everyday, and eats before the dog does!
Dianne Munro says:
I live in a very small unit and my cats are indoor cats….but I spent a lot of money enclosing the pergola at the back so they can go out there for some “outdoor’ time during the day. Every room in the house has at least one scratch pole , and another strategically placed at each window so they can look out. There are at least 2 fleecy beds per cat, and my two single beds and lounge are piled with fleecy throws and blankets so they can sleep where they like. Cat toys are everywhere and the whole unit is geared to their comfort and use – I am only there to cater and smooch on demand. (and pay the bills)
carmen says:
My cat Pugsley is so spoiled he sleeps on nothing but best ,silk in the summer , lambs wool in winter with his coco chanel collar.

My cat is so pampered that she drinks bottled spring water while I drink from the tap (she refuses tap water!)
Maree Gray says:
My cat run’s the house – well it is hers. The rule is who ever will look after Gee like I do gets the house. The rest of the world revolves around Gee.
Linda Casey says:
I do have more that one cat, but I must say the “stray” cat Poppy is very pampered. She has more than one place to sleep in, because having to grow up in the wild that was all she knew! So now I make sure she has warm blankets in about three different places for her and she is very grateful!
Emma Evans says:
Nashi the Siamese and Simbad the Norwegian Forest Cat X are so pampered that the electric blanket gets turned on half an hour before the humans go to bed so the cats get to enjoy the warmth.
The garden has been enclosed for them and is in the process of being designed to be a catio for them complete with water feature and cat friendly grasses and plants.
Leonie mooney says:
my cat Kitty is an older puss now – turning 15 this year and had been struggling to get up on the bed but my partner has built him cat steps to get up and he knew they were for him straight away and loves using them to save his old bones- he snuggles into his own soft blanket and big rag doll he loves to lay all over.
Cazii says:
To my Persian, she’s the most important member of the household . Throughout the day, I have to bring her food bowl to the room she has decided to spend time in. If fail to do so, I get ‘told off’.
When she decides it is bed time, she will meow and complain until I am in my half of the bed (the other half is hers) and the light is switched off.
I would say that my home is more of a ‘petatorship’ than a petocracy; but I don’t mind since I love her to bits!
Shelley O'Reilly says:
I know my home is a petocracy because when he believes his litter is not pristine enough for him to dip his dainty paws into my boy Charley miaows for me to change the litter and I drop whatever I’m doing at the time and comply!
Lesley says:
My cat is so pampered that she thinks she owns the Queen size bed in my room and I am just there to keep her warm. Recently she gave birth to 4 kittens on the bed. When I woke in the morning I sure got a shock. She was happy though and busy training the next generation of felines how to rule the house.
jo says:
Im a softy when it comes to sam he is cute when he wants to be but agressive at other times. Even when the kids or my husband annoys him he comes to me and meows to let me know hes not happy.
I usually give him a cuddle and tell him I love him or I give him a pat and a treat.

Our 16 month old siamese cat Hermione is a pampered pussy. Hermione sleeps in the day on her heated cat bed, in the night her body under the covers, her head on my pillow. Hermione has cooked chicken for breakfast and dinner, along with cat biscuits and a small amount of whiskas meat.
house has central heating for her to enjoy she loves the heating vents. A special toybox with fun toys for her is a must. When we go on holidays she goes to the Kitty Ritz where she has a special suite with heated floor and all luxaries included. Meow for Hermione.
Missy says:
My Muffie knows she shouldn’t be on the kitchen bench, but when I scold her in that ‘you’ve been naughty tone’, she just turns her ears and ignores me!
Michelle Bembo says:
I have 3 cats and they all have there own diffrent personality but my 3 babys all wont the one thing lots of love and cuddles thats how i pamper my darlings because to me they are not just cats but family and i love seeing them happy.
Noela Grierson says:
My cat, Shadow, has a cat window and he can come and go as he pleases. At night he curls up on the end of my bed and he love wet and dry food with an occasional treat of mince. When I went away for a couple of days he was most put out when I came home I thought he was ill and I was thinking I would have to take him to the vet., but he was only sulking, for 1 whole day, wouldn’t eat, just ignored me. He is part persian, ragdoll, alley cat. Beautiful. He is pampered.!!
Jill & Matt MacAulay says:
We have two beautiful boy manx’s. They wait at the door for Matt to get home from work, then race him up to the bedroom, where they jump up on our bed and get a 5 minute brush each before Matt is allowed to even take his boots off. Every other day he takes their bling bling collars off and gives them a 10 minutes brush. If i get home from work first they get a brush from me but still go through the whole routine with Matt when he finally gets home. We love our little boys.
Tanya Parsons says:
We live with two cats – Jackie and George. They both sleep with us in our bed every night as they couldn’t bear to be subjected to the indignity of sleeping in cat beds on the floor. Their water supply consists of a water filter that continuously provides fresh water to ensure our friends have only the best. They get to eat premium food to ensure they always look and feel their best. George rules the house and has maximum attention at all times due to his unique ability to communicate on a human verbal level. Jackie is a very cuddly lady and must have the ideal lap conditions (straight legs and tracky pants) in order to have a comfortable evening relaxing in front of the television. They have multiple scratching posts, a den and a comfy bed in order to ensure they have all the comforts cats their prestige deserves. They also have a 3 foot tropical fish tank and many toys to make sure that they are never bored. You may think that George and Jackie have all they need, but the one thing they do not have is a pet igloo. To ensure that their lives continue in the pampered vein that has come before, they need your help!
Suzy Fraser says:
My two ginger cats Leonardo and Allister are without question the most pampered cats in Australia today. I have moved from a quiet cul-de-sac street in the country and moved to the inner suburbs of Perth city, living on a very busy road. I didn’t want to take away their exposure to the outdoors altogether so I have spent the past 6 years building and perfecting an enclosure that incorporates the entire back patio and half of the backyard. This has enabled my boys to have sunshine, fresh air and dirt to dig in, and at the same time be kept safe from potential road accidents and or dogs, not to mention helping the wildlife from attacks as well as other neighbourhood cats.
My cats definitely have full control of me and everything I do but that is what having a cat as a pet is all about.. They are my whole world.
Pauline Cambourne says:
I have two cats the female sleeps wherever she likes but only in the same place for a week and then has to find a different place, the male decides on the most inappropriate place and no way is he going to move from there unless it is to demand his daily milk. If the fridge door is opened to get the milk out he is there in an instant complaining until the milk is put down. If for some reason the milk hasn’t come out of the fridge in a timely manner he will let the whole neighbourhood know that he is being deprived.
If there is anything in the way of where he wants to sleep it will gradually be moved so that he has sufficient room to spread himself out. Of course if his sister finds a good position he will appropriate it
Rod says:
My ginger tomcats wake me at 6:30 & queue at the front door to be let out for their morning constitutional. After a game of stalking & chasing with the Siamese from upstairs, they run in & wait by the ‘fridge for their ‘roo mince. The rest of the day is taken up with wrestling, sleeping & clawing the furniture. After their evening feed, they retire to my bed & warm it up for me, although Ginger does act as a wrist-rest while I am at the computer keyboard. Bluey retires early, often on my pillow.
yvonne zemdegs says:
I no longer pamper my 17 year old cat. She knows that her pats are restricted to no more than 30 minutes at a time.
tammy tunnell says:
We have 2 beatiful cats princess and bundy.
princess was a feral kitten found in the bush fending for herself near my brothers work, fortunately for her they managed to capture her and they gave her to me, i have reared her from approx 4 weeks .Although princess is not a lap cat nor does she particuly like been handled much she is a much loved family member who likes canoodling on our bed with her new best friend bundy :.D They sleep on our beds ( most of the time not wanting to move to let me and my partner in ) lol.
They spend there time playing in the front garden or sleeping with our rabbits.
we love them both very much ..
G. HERITAGE says:
Priscilla allows me to live with her, she is the princess and mistress of our house. She shares her love with me and is always there for a cuddle and a pat. I don’t mind as would be lost without her and love her dearly.

Our 15 year cat won’t let us have fish & chips Unless we buy a piece of fish specifically for him.If we forget & have a hamburger instead,he sits there & meow’s & makes us feel bad.
Nyree Reynolds says:
We have three Siamese boys; twins and their younger brother, who as soon as my light goes out bestir themselves from whence they have been sleeping…usually on our Chihuahua’s heat pad, and climb straight into bed with me, take up all my pillows, after pushing me off said pillows, and settle down for a jolly good night’s sleep. I subtly need to arrange myself around them so as not to disturb their possies. Later in the night I’m woken with my arm going more and more numb because one or more of The Boys are on it draining the very life blood out of it. I’ve become expert at gingerly sliding my arm from under said Blokes only to have one of the resident Chihuahuas object to my movement. I settle down again happy in the knowledge that our Petocracy is alive, comfortable, snug and warm and all is well with our collective world.
Elayne Cesaro says:
Our babies are only a little bit spoilt, they are not allowed to sit on the dining table while we are eating or entertaining, however, they are allowed to perch on the back of the sofa near the table and watch and talk to us during dinner. They are not allowed to sleep between the sheets, however, Frankie (the only male) does creep up during the night and park himself on my pillow and wash himself (and my face and hair if I don’t wake up quickly enough to stop him) while one of the others sleeps between my husband and myself. We don’t need alarm clocks, when it is time for them to be fed they sit on our chests and purr loudly in our faces to let us know it is time to get up. As I said, they are only a little bit spoilt and we, their humble servants, get warm fuzzy cat bodies on our laps especially when we are either reading, or in my case, hand quilting. It is our pleasure and privilege to be part of their family.
Serena Perry says:
OMG…My cat would feel so loved and adored if she was to receive this beautiful “Cat Igloo”. Since the arrival of our first child, Missy has been feeling a bit left out, I am sure this would make her know she is still apart of our family and very much loved.
Lauryn Ireson says:
My cat is pampered because she gets whole prawns. She is allowed to sleep under the blanket with us.She always gets patted and talked to and she gets fresh food and water every day

Our Kitty called Mitty adores prawns. We buy 5Kg boxes and keep then in the freezer allowing her to have 3 a day that we have especially peeled for her. When we go on holidays we have a pet sitter that comes in each day to ensure that Mitty has her regular food and water as well as three peeled prawns each day!
Eve Ambrose says:
I have on occasion waited till my hubby has gone to sleep to let the cats inside for the night (it was cold) and set the alarm so I could them back out before he wakes. 8 years and counting and we haven’t been caught yet
Shari Boyd says:
Hi, as I am typing this Max ‘ mummy’s angel ‘ is curled up next to me on her sheep skin, which she has many of through out mum’s house, I am building a house and a cat door is going off the bedroom wall, so I can build an enclosure for her, yes she sleeps on the pillow next to me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Stimpy says:
Our 15 year old kitty – Stimpy- is one of the most pampered and spoilt cats in Australia if not the world. Problem is that I (Mum) gave her that power! She has her own pillow and blanket and gets tucked in at night. At dawn (which is for her b/w 5am and 6am) she paws the wooden blinds (in our bedroom) until the noise makes it so unbearable that I have to get up and feed her. Then I need to wait until she decides to either do her do do business outside or if she would like to come back to bed for the next few hours for the residual of her cat nap. She follows me around the house like a puppy and when I sit she will lay over my feet only my feet inorder to asert her power and independence. She will not eat from a plate that has had a meal prior and that goes for her milk and water….they need to be changed at each sitting. She at one stage ate on the kitchen counter, but I am thinking that at age 15, she does not do this anymore as jumping so high may be a problem. Is our kitty spoilt………..DEFINATELY…….but we would not have it any other way………..pets are part of the family and are long term…….it is just funny to hear our stories !
Noeleen says:
I know I should get my priorities right but I just have to get my two Burmese their breakfast and attend to the litter tray before I even think about my breakfast. After all they expect to be put first.
Jan Needham says:
My beautiful tabby persian has a special charm and the whole family love and share him.
He visits various family members for sleep overs and in all cases rules the roost.
When I get ready to go out he rushes over to his carry case wondering which exciting
place he’s off to
He is brushed 2-3 times a day after which he receives a treat for being good.
He chooses where he sleeps and on entry to all places rushes to his kitty bowl for new and
exciting goodies.
At christmas, which last year was at my daughter new place, when we were called to dinner,
he was the first one off the leather lounge where he had been enjoying numerous pats and special
attention, and jumped up to the chair at the end of the table (head position) gazing at the feast spread out before him.
No one said it was HIS dinner time.
He is very fussy with his food – likes variety and if it doesn’t suit – just give us dirty looks.
In the morning when he wants feeding, he becomes very frisky, jumping on the bed, purring in my ear and gently stroking my face. If that doesn’t work he has learnt how to put his paw on the music system to get it going – just so I have to get up and turn it off, and in the meantime I may as well feed him!
Master of the houses!!!
Adorable – yes!
Neroli Blyth says:
Misty is so cute, she climbs on the kitchen bench when Dad is not around. I sort of tell her its not OK, but she doesn’t believe me.
When Dad came home after being away for couple of nights he shoed her off the bench, then very quitely and carefully she got back up and hid behind the recipie book so he could not see her! One very clever cat!
At bedtime, she knows Dad plays a game with her with the lazer, she waits on the bed very excited for him to come and play the game. And very dutifully he obeys and plays the game. When this is all over she curls up on our bed and goes to sleep. At 7 months old, she has it all!!!!
Janelle Gilmore says:
We have a ghekko hunt every night, where madam Cleo is carried around in the arms of ‘dad’ along with the broom. When ghekko is spotted ‘Dad’ swings the broom to bring ghekko down or madam Cleo is lifted up to reach for herself. As she is a lover not a killer, ghekko very rarely gets caught!!!
Christine Campbell says:
Oscar sleeps on my bed at night and purrs contentedly as he is so happy. He also greets me at the door when I come home. He is part of my life and he is gorgeous. He is a big fluffy and white puddy tat and he is pampered as he also sleeps in front of the heater at night and sometimes on the couch on the blanket that I share with him. He waits for me to go to bed at night before he gets up on my bed. So gorgeous!
Bridgette Ross says:
Tucker is a 3 year old sphynx who dominates not just the 2 of us, but also, the 9 other cats who share the house with him.
He refuses to eat from the bowls on the floor where the others eat from. When he is hungry he jumps on our kitchen bench, waits for his bunny rug to be placed down so he doesnt get cold feet, then we offer him his bowl of fresh diced kangaroo fillets (the others do not have the privilege of dining on kangaroo fillets). This is the only wet food he will eat. We then place 4 bowls with a different variety of biscuits in each one in a circle around him on his bunny rug. He will sniff each bowl, going from one to the other, (he will do this for about 30 seconds, continuing round in a circle!) searching for the tastiest offering, then, more often than not, he flicks his little bald nose in the air and will rocket off into the blue yonder.. needless to say, we are at his beck and call every waking moment. This little procedure can occur anything up to 6 or 7 times an hour, sometimes more! Its quite frustrating, as we get sick to death of dragging his bowl of roo fillets out of the fridge and the bowls of biscuits out of the cupboard every 5 minutes!!
My bed is his bed. (He doesnt like my husband, so, my husband and I sleep in separate beds). He sleeps in my bed, under the blankets every night without fail. He goes to bed when I do and doesnt get out of my bed until around 10-11am every day. Nothing unusual about that, however, I am totally paranoid about leaving him alone at night. This means that I can never go away on holidays unless he comes with us, (which he does). About 12 months ago, I needed surgery, which meant going to hospital and leaving him. Well, you guessed it, I wouldnt leave him, so, I didnt have my surgery. I can tell you lots more about him, I could fill a book!!
Kelly Taylor says:
My beautiful chocolate Bermese cat Willow, is my other baby. I have a 7yr old daughter. Willow sleeps under my bed covers with me, she waits till I get settled and the bed is warmed up and then she head butts me to lift the covers so she can get in and snuggle. She has me wrapped around her little paw. So cute.
Joanna White says:
Our cat Norman is allowed to sleep on the dining room table of a morning while my partner has breakfast – if he wants to sleep all over the morning paper (and he usually does), then my partner waits until Norman has had his nap and moved off before he can read the paper. Norman doesn’t have a cat flap to get in and out of the house, so he bangs on the doors – loudly – when he wants to come in or out, most often in the middle of the night!
Daphne Buch says:
If it’scold and the fireisn’t going becausewe are out for the day, I leave my electric blanket on formy cats.
maureen vandenberg says:
Honey our ragdoll has the winter all worked out,as soon as hubby leaves his arm chair ,she slowly moves from her position on the top of my chair ,and takes over my hubbies chair.
She looks so comfortable that he does not move her ,but sits on the sofa for as long as she wants to stay on his chair{this is all evening most nights}
Our boy ragdoll still cannot figure out why he does not have the best seat on my hubbies knee !!!!
Girl power lives.
Laura says:
I have two cats, one of which (Kit- a 1yo Turkish Van cross) greets me every morning when I get up to go to work or uni. He’ll meet me at my bedroom door, rubbing up against the door frame looking so very cute (as they do), beat me into the toilet room, and then race out and leap up onto the bathroom sink where he’s learnt he gets a ot of attention because he’s at a more convenient height for me to reach when I’m in a hurry! Kit has always had a bit of a fascination with water (Any buckets or containers of water within his reach must ALWAYS be examined and played with) and he quickly learnt that I would turn the bathroom tap on in the morning to brush my teeth. Since then, he’s modified his routine slightly, where he’ll now jump up for attention, and then wait for the tap to turn on for him. If I don’t turn the tap on, he’ll look at me, look at the tap and look at me again. If I still don’t turn it on, he’ll either gently touch the tap with his paw, or lick it, which of course I can’t resist and I have to turn it on for him! Kit will then drink the water straight from the tap and play with it by batting the water with his paws. He doesn’t mind standing in shallow water, and certainly doesn’t mind getting a little wet! He also likes to curl up in the sink and look cute to get some more attention!! Now, if I go into the bathroom (or he thinks I’m going into the bathroom) he’ll race in and leap up onto the sink before I get to it, ready and waiting for me to turn the tap on for him to have a drink. Fresh is best!
Kit is incredibly smart and a very fast learner- he has me well trained!
Joan Flynn says:
My beautiful Misty is a fiesty 8 year old lady who doesn’t like to be cuddled, but loves sleeping on the arm of my chair with my arm around her and her head on my hand. She fights me for the best spot in bed at night and gets annoyed if I disturb her by moving. My daughter calls her “The Cat from Hell,” but looks after her when I am away. Misty is a devoted loyal and loving companion, spoilt rotten, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
kaz fawkes says:
I purchased a 4 bedroom house just for my cats and sometimes they even let me stay in it.

Every saturday Brixton is given three of the best prawns available from our seafood market that
I make a special trip to. the owners have come to know me and i don.t even need to ask for the three prawns, unless I decide to give him four instead.
Linda Evans says:
My cat Philly is so pampered she does not ever go outside. She has only ever known inside and is safe. I screened the veranda in with shade cloth and she goes out there to lay in the sun, play on her cat toys and eat her cat grass that is organically grown for her. She sleeps inside and has the run of the house day and night. In the winter she has a bed by the fireplace and practically wraps herself around the wood stove on the warm bricks that form the hearth. She has a special place in the bathroom where she can sit and watch the little birds through the window as they suck nectar from the shrubs. She loves this and they are safe. She has fresh meat and fish with some chopped spinach and omega oils when ever she wants a treat. We rescued a kitten from the dump last year and Teddy is now a big healthy desexed friend for Philly so they are never lonely, even when I can’t be home with them. Now there are two pampered cats in my home.
Jan Walker says:
We have an ordinary moggy, black and white, of course, whose name is Jolly Roger. He is nine years old. When he was two and in his third home in South Australia, and while we visited SA in the motorhome, he took a distinct liking to my husband, so when we arrived back in Queensland, my sister-in-law sent him over to us by plane. We picked him up at Brisbane airport. He had had a double dose of valium, but was still wide awake and vocalising consistantly. He is a 7 kg cat and so holds his own with our friendly Tenterfield Terrier, who is only 4.8 kg.
We take them both on yearly trips in our motorhome, taking them for a walk for half an hour morning and night. Roger leads beautifully, and only when he hears a dog bark does he linger and is reluctant to go forward. When out in the bush, he leads the way, pulling at his lead just like a dog.
debbie Redpath says:
I have 13 cats and they are all spoilt rotten. The most pampered thing would be that 2 like to sleep on my pillow beside me. They have their paws on my face and sometimes nibble on my ear or nose. I get very little pillow to myself and have to place my head on top of them at times. They also like to have some blanket over them. They all have the run of the house and my house has been designed to house 13 or more cats.
Natalie says:
The other (cold cold!) night, I was precariously sitting on the chilly floor tiles in my lounge room. You may ask, why wasn’t I sitting on the couch? Well, my three-legged cat Oscar had claimed the heated blanket, and had stretched out across both cushions. You may also ask, why didn’t I just curl up in bed? Well, my other cat Sylvester had settled himself in the middle of my queen size bed, making good use of all the blankets and pillows. Trying to disturb his ‘nest’ resulted in a growl and a look that told me ‘don’t you dare…’. Finally, I set up a foot stool in front of the heater, and headed to the kitchen to make a cuppa. On return, I found my third cat Max comfortably positioned on the stool, tummy warming nicely. So, my feline-loving friends, this is how I came to be spending a chilly night freezing my butt off on the tiled floor in my lounge room. Pampered pusses, anyone?
Jennifer McGuiness says:
My Cuddles loves to be held and I sing her a song which she starts purring this usually happens daily and lasts for around 5 mins. Her favorite song is a take on the Barry Manilow classic, Copacobana, with a bit of improv. It goes like this, “Her name is Cuddles, she was a showcat, the prettiest burmese in the whole world, she did merange and did the cha cha, and everyone one would stare at the ribbons in her hair, her name was Cuddles…” you get the drift. (Dont tell my husband)
Michelle Allison says:
My cat is cat is so pampered that when I took her to the vet the other day, she was so good for the vet that when I got her home, I peeled fresh prawns(this is her favourite food) for her as a treat for the vet visit. Now is that a pampered puss or what.
Cleocleo says:

gemma Brereton says:
my cat is really happy to win a igloo he will sleep in it every day if he wins it. He likes
my Mums water bed a lot too!!
Karen Bickerton says:
I am the one who is pampered! My new cat Franky spends his days following me, entertaining me, and making sure I don’t work too hard on the computer (by sitting on the keyboard) or at lace making (by stealing my shuttles and thread). In return for a little food (well, maybe a fair amount of food–he is growing after all), a place to sleep and a bit of indulgence, he gives me love and companionship, coming when I call, keeping me warm at night, walking on a lead with me, riding in my bike basket when I can ride, and on the bad days, he simply curls up next to me and purrs. Yes, I am more than pampered.
Peter Chain says:
I pwn two Desexed Bengal Cats
I Agive them both wet & dry food & there is several bowels of fresh water for them
around my flat. thay also have 4 cat litter trays on my Balconey to use
Thay have a total of 8 cat poles scatted thro out my flat & most are about 6ft tall with one
being 8 ft tall, thay also have several cat tunnels for them to play in & heaps of other toys
as everytime i go shopping i always buy something new for them
Thay both like to sleep on my bed at nite & if i dont wake up by 7am then one of them
( normally my male) will get on to of my wardrowb & jump onto me until i wake up.
My male loves his belly rubbed while he is hanging by his claws off the tallest catpole
but as “Zenith’ has really big & sharp claws i have to wear garden gloves when rubbing his tummy as he likes to grab my hnd with his claws
My female “Jabulani” likes me to pat he back while she is eating & will run between my legs in between mouth fulls( I have nerve root damage in my spine from a spinal fusion that left me with damge nerves so i get very sore when i do that for her)
She also likes me carrying her around my flat while she is in a box as shhe just seems to enjoy it & will clim out of it onto a cat pole & then climb back into it as she loves get close to my big cat ftamed photos that i have hanging around my flat. Thay both like to chew on my thongd or open my cupboards door in my kitchen & at nite time thay will sit on one of the cat poles on my balconey & have a good meow at any stray cats about, tho some of the people in other flats have small dogs that bark a lot, so my cats meowing is nothing compared to the noise thay make
When i took my two cats to the vets for their yearly vacination & check up he told me that their teeth was perfect & their weigth was also perfect for their age size & breed & told me to keep on
looking after them the way iam now as thay will live a long healthy & happy life

Jade Thompson says:
My cat, Patrick loves to sit in front of the fire. If I am sitting in front of it, he will walk up to me, with a very indignant look on his face until I move. He then sits right in front of it and stretches right out.
He also goes outside during the day while we are at work. If it’s too cold or hot, I let him stay in. But I always take him out the back door (he likes it better) and place him on top of the hot water service (his favourite “outside” spot). I then place a shoe to hold the porch door open where he has a little bed so that he can choose to stay in our out.
Patrick also has his toys placed in areas where he likes to sit the most. He can open doors himself if they are slightly ajar, but if he can see me or my husband in the room, he expects the door to be opened for him. And it always is!
amanda gallagher says:
We have four cats who allow us to believe that they are our pets. They have their own playroom complete with double bed that the two boys use as their own personal wrestling ring. One of the girls comes home when ever she feels like it and demands to be fed immediately. As we are usually up for work by 5am they do not see why we shouldnt also get up at 5am on weekends to stick to their usual feeding regime. Waking us up usually consists of getting up onto high vantage points and leaping into the vertical drapes. On cold winter nights we like to go to bed under the quilt and huddled on top of the hot water bottle. The humans sleep on the very edge of the king size bed clinging desperately to any patch of covering we can grab. And yet we love them all and their own little quirks.

Pixie a Tonkonese has to know who is boss. But!! knows how to get around me. She has a harness with 2 leads tied to a brick. She is then able to enjoy the out doors with out getting stolen or lost. Most importanly not kill or catch any birds. When she has had enough of a spot she yells loadly for a move which she chooses.
She is happy in her laundry bed after a stint on our bed while we read. She goes ahead to her bed for the night.

Smudgie Kermudgkins (aka the big fat white cat) day starts
. waking up next to daddy’s pillow
. upon awakening have 1 small bowl of dried food and a little drink of cat friendly milk
. we go outside for our “ablutions”
. we return for a further gastronomic event
. we get upset that mum is going to work and take off for the new front veranda that mum and dad built for me.
. sleep, sleep, sleep
. waiting for mum to get home from work – she will be sorry if she is late
. here she is! wrap self around her legs for the entire time she is trying to climb the stairs
. sit in front of bowl waiting for tender strips of tuna for my tea. If not getting undivided attention will commence to talk incessantly regardless of the fact that mum and dad are trying to discuss their day.
. annoy dad whilst he is having dinner – need him on his comfy chair so I can snuggle in
. yawn time for me to go to bed.

With hubby being a chef there is always an abundance of food in the house, not only for humans. There are at least three types of dry food in his bowl as he likes a smorgasbord! For special occasions “Moo” gets fresh prawns. There are at least 20 types of tinned food in the pantry according to his “moo”d!
Margaret Cross says:
I have 3 indoor cats that rule this house. I am out numbered 3 – 1. Two of them have wrecked my leather lounge suite by using it as a Daytona race track, and I thought “well if you have animals, these are the things you put up with for unconditional love in return”…..They win….
rebecca elliott says:
Khorn knew I was a sucker when I first met him. Showerfishing, post watching and back targeting are his favourite past times. Part from being an excellent watchcat, humane mousecatcher and annoying much needed morning alarm clock. Nothing shouts out louder then somebody forgot to clean out my loo then when Khorn uses the guest as the next best thing. Hey it was not his fault cos that was my job!! Now that’s a pampered cat that can do no wrong.
Kerry says:
my cat has almost gotten complete control of our house. despite having her own cat door she still sits in front of the door and yells till we let her out. at meal times she demands to share our meals and even tries to drink from our glasses. at bed time she finds the most comfy spot and manages to steal all of the blankets. quite often i am left with no bed and freezing with no covers. When sleeping in front of the fire, if we want to stand in front of it with her we do so at the our own risk as she tries to bite or swipe at our legs.
raewyn bracewell says:

I got in the quiz mostly C’s. My cat Willie is an old cat, and he belonged to my Nan, who passed away, so now we have him. With her he was so used to sleeping in her bed, cuddling her on the lounge, and always having food readily available in his bowls. Spoilt rotten. So when he moved with us, we couldnt stop his rituals, as we promised to look after him. I love him so much, he is what I have left of my Nan, and I give him just as much love and attention as I did with my Nan. He is 16 years old now, and still going so we basically give him anything that makes him comfortable for his poor arthritis bones. We dont put him out of a night, 1 because of the wildlife (not that he could chase them anyway) and 2, because its too cold for our poor old cat. So he sleeps inside in a cat bed, but I often wake up in the morning with him curled up next to me. An Igloo would be puuurrrfect for him, to keep him warm, protected and secure at his tender old age.

As to my previous comment – my cats DEFINITELY rule the house. They share my bed and I always make sure my electric blanket is let on during cold days so they can stay toasty and warm.
They are very fussy and only eat certain foods.
They have their own table to eat at (or on). My cats are very precious to me and recently my Fluffy (who I have had for 14 years) passed away. I flt totally empty – he was very special and I still ( a month later) grieve for him.
Christina Materna says:
I’ve got a smaller than average Maine Coon that is I believe the ruler of the roost. She has her own end of the bed symbolised by a blanket but somehow seems to take up a human sized amount every night.
She has access to every room in the house and is taken for walks out on her own walking harness. Is allowed to ‘help’ with all the household tasks, including ‘folding’ the clothes – or more likely sitting on them.
Only the best premium cat food is for her and occasionally I’ll buy some expensive moist food for her (worth more than my own dinners). I’ve tried her on ‘human’ food, including breast meat but the closest thing she’ll touch is cream.
There is a bookcase space for her own enjoyment up high, a 6″2′ cat roost all to herself, the back of the chair and any cardboard box we bring home as they are her favourite (esp the ones with “keep chilled below 4 degrees” marked on them), she has her own persona online and quite often has typed out her own messages (no idea what she actually said though).

My cat Uresai loves to sleep on my side or chest, until the other half leaves for work. Then she happily stretches and claims his side of the bed as her property for the rest of the day and she looks forward to her icecream after dinner. Georgie says:
I have two indoor kitties and both are spoilt rotten, both like to hide in dark places, and take delight in jumping out on us or each other when walking past. They hog my side of the bed at night, much to my hubby’s annoyance the Manx cat purrs her head off (her purr is not only loud, it vibrates the bed too), the other cat uses me as her heat source in winter, sleeping on my hip or back, but she has to walk around us both at night a few times before settling down (the cat scan). They both use the clothes airing rack at a hammock, when we set them up to dry sheets/blankets & clothes. The Manx cat is also the watch cat, growling at noises, especially at night, or people knocking at the door, she also follows people around the house, watching everything they do, if they are not regular visitors.

Well, my cat is definitely part of this petocracy. She sleeps in my bed snuggled up next to my arm under the doona, drinks out of glasses, eats on the table, has her own heater, tells me when it’s time to go to bed, follows me everywhere and my room is as much mine as it is hers. She’s my baby though, I wouldn’t have it any other way

Well i got mostly B’s. Sounds about right. Angel is part of the family, but gets a little naughty like a child would so discipline is needed, but like a child she still gets pampered and spoilt as much as is god for her
Roz Tracey says:
I am owned by 10 cats – they own me, one thing I have found from being a cat lover and is that a person never “owns” a cat, it is the other way around. My lot have my husband and I trained very well. Miss Cassie for example will not lap out of a bowl but insists on a fresh bowl of water that she can stir with her paw and then lick the water off her paw or drink from a dripping tap. Miss Keisha will never drink from a bowl of water that was put there in the morning and not refreshed by night time and she will always tell me when there is no dry food in the bowl. If the litter trays (and there are a few of them) are not as they should be, then there is merry hell to pay until they are cleaned out and suitable for use. As for food well if it is a choice between regular cat food and something that my husband and I might be having for dinner, then the cat food will get the go by and our dinner usually becomes theirs!! Oh they are a spoilt lot alright but what would life be without them??!!

Our two cats are at the top of the command chain in our household. When we are watching tv, they will usually commandeer the best seats in the lounge room and I am left to sit on the floor with the dog.
Koby says:
Mostly C’s, hmmmm not to bad I think. One of my cats wont drink out of her bowl, nope only a running tap! They choose where they sleep, I have cardboard boxes around my house just coz they love them. There scratching post is over 6 feet tall (who’s the king of the castle??) If I forget to give them there treaties every night, what am I saying I never forget, I have 2 little reminders that sit on the bench and yell till I remember! God bless them. But nothing beats the snuggle under the doona on cold winter morning, there is no better hot water bottle!
Michelle Davies-Kildea says:
I have three domestic cats who are highly superior! Flo (the boss) will only drink flowing water from a tap, she is always waiting outside the bathroom door when I get home for her drinky. If she is thirsty while everyone is relaxing watching TV, she sits at the door of the lounge and throws out a couple of huge deep meows letting us know it’s time to get up and run the tap for her. My husband is not well trained enough to take the hint, but Flo has the rest of us wrapped around her paw!
Vivienne Lauder says:
Our kitties dine on top quality steak/mince/chicken while we dine on the cheaper cuts, afterall our kids are the most important thing to us so we have to spoil them

Rhonda J Allen says:
Our home is most certainly not a Petocracy, as you call them.
OK we have had to make a few, minor, adjustments since Buster joined our family but we didn’t really need all of those fancy ornaments lying around on top of cupboards collecting dust and we know what our chlidren and granchildren look like. Sure we can even get the photo frames out of the bottom draw and look at them if we really want to.
We don’t keep any toys in the lounge room.
Well frankly there isn’t room with his tunnel, his tree with 2 hanging rat things, his 3 hanging ornament things which dangle from the central pillar in the middle of the lounge room, fish tank and main window and his cardboard boxes that we can’t throw out because they are ‘his’ favourites, with the special holes that we put in them so that he can paw at us as we try to walk past.
We have taken to wearing long sox whislt watching TV as it helps to keep the scratches (and blood loss) to a minimum.
Incientally, did you know that a 2 month old kitten can remove a silicone contact lens with one punch and leave the eye undamaged? Buster is older now.
Ok we did put a ‘viewing’ stool in front of the fish tank but that was only a vain attempt to keep him occupied and off the kitchen bench long enough for us to prepare our dinner. Buster would much prefer to help us with dinner which is OK with us as long as he doesn’t stir the mince too much. He likes to relax in front of the fish tank after dinner.
We insist that Buster sleeps in our bed, but he prefers the top of the bird cage.
When he does come to bed, he doesn’t always sleep ‘under’ the blankets biting my legs and buttocks if I inadvertently move, sometimes he sleeps on top, and even though he drops is favourite sock, which used to be one of a pair of my favourite socks, on my face at 1am doesn’t automatically mean I am going to get up and play, no way Buster! Especially when he has gone to the trouble of dropping it in his water bowl first. No, I need my sleep so that I can spend the early hours puting dry sheets and blankets on the bed.
No, we are in control of our home and no 4 legged cute bundle of fur is going to take us over.

Zoey is very pampered. She gets to do whatever she like (except scratch the couch & carpet), we even share brekkie and dinner. Aww

l have 2 precious 1 year old boys…. they are not brother’s but were surrendered to a vet nurse and she hand raised them from 2 weeks of age….my boys are so spoilt. They have the complete run of the house.. they are indoor cats so we have lots of scratch poles and toys to keep them happy… they eat only the best food.. Very spoilt little angels..xxxx
Fiona says:
My cat Tidds rules the roost. She goes out, then she comes back in while i am cooking, then she wants back out and after all that she want in while we are eating and demands her dinner. Then she will only eat fancy feast and nothing else for dinner. Then its the constant squeak as if to say entertain me. Then its the kitty litter and after all that its on our bed. She has to sleep on and in our bed. To do this she swats your face with her paw and then sticks her face on yours and squeaks. Yes she squeaks not meows. In the morning she basically takes up the whole bed. She pushed me and my husband out and then curls up and snores for the rest of the day. Then the whole thing starts again.
Sandy says:
Our cats are not spoilt by any means. We have one 16 year old female who we found when she was about 3 weeks old. Mrs Mac eats only top grade steak and chicken. Her food is chopped up each morning and night for her into pin head size pieces as anything bigger she will not eat. She drinks from the running tap in the kitchen, sleeps on top of the gas heater which we leave running for her when we are home. When we go to work she has her own hot water bottle to keep her warm during the day. I even go home at lunchtime to change the water for her to make sure she is kept warm. My other cat is 18 moths old. Lovey, lives on our water bed. Lovey buries herself under the duvet and sheets during the day and no one dares move her when we get home. She gets the best of food as well and meows to go outside and meows to come in. Her best friend is a red nose pit bull. Even if we have just sat down and Lovey meows we get up to answer her call. We only go on a 2 – 3 day holiday as they fret if we are gone any longer. No – we are not ruled by our cats at all..
Campbell Cain says:
Pampered and protected that’s our Gizmo – our RSPCA Special..
He even has his own bodyguard – a 35kg Rottweiler cross called Hemi.
Every morning Hemi goes out the doggie door and checks things out, all clear, then Gizmo serenely follows. Hemi patiently waits while Gizmo attends to his ablutions, then escorts him inside again.
Hemi knows his place, get too close and Gizmo hisses at him, he backs away.
But on a cold night they are together, lying side by side in front of the open fire.
karen tyler says:
Cairo was named for his inclination to sit like the Sphinx and his sandy colour. He is really my daughter’s cat but she has left home. When she somes to visit he gets very cranky with her if she doesn’t stay for at least a couple of nights. If he sees her packing to leave he walks over her clothes and has been known to scratch her if she tries to shoo him away. He is very jealous of my grand-daughter (other daughter’s child) and is also terrified of her though she smiles and waves at him. Although Cairo never eats anything that doesn’t come out of a biscuit box or a tin (not even nice fresh chicken) when the baby dropped some pasta from her high chair he ate it. He also sits on her play mat after she’s gone home. He has a cat door but if he can’t be bothered going around the back he just bangs on the fronnt door to be let in. If he wants to go out the front door he sits in front of it and stares meaningfully at us. It is below him to mee-ow!
Norma says:
Chico is the most spoiled cat ever.! He sits with me to watch TV and then start doing eyes with me, like hey, I’m here.! just pay attention will you? Amazing cat.!
Laura says:
My girl Ashley would have to be one of the most spoilt cats around, she curls up next to me at night on the doona, has her own bed but thinks mine is better, has her own rug on the lounge but obviously prefers you to be sitting under so you can pat her constantly & she gets feed twice a day with a big bowl of biscuits available for her all day long. She may be spoilt but I wouldnt have it any other way, she is my best friend!
Andrea Wickham says:
My Louis asks for a teaspoon of yoghurt every morning. It used to go on a saucer but he prefers it from the teaspoon. He now has his own teaspoon that he eats his greek style yoghurt from.
Justine Brazil says:
Well I have 2 very spoilt furry children, a little girl called Nera and a boy called Nino. I adopted them from a lady who could no longer keep them (that old chestnut about allergies was the story she used), so at 9 and 10 months old respectively we had our lives turned upside down by their arrival. Nera spent 6 weeks in a cupboard and I laid there every morning and every night talking to her through the door and leaving her with fresh water and food every day (she would sneak out at night when everyone was asleep to use the cat litter tray) she finally trusted me and we have literally pussy footed around her and now she has oodles of confidence. Nino on the other hand pretty much settled in from day 1 and was loving all the attention as Nera wasnt around (in the cupboard) he learnt very quickly that if he poked and jabbed me in the eye first thing in the morning (even if it is 4am) I will get up and feed him. It’s a very different story if my partner wakes me of course he gets an earful, but they (the cats) can both wake me at anytime for anything. They now expect me to play with them every night and this consists of me chasing them around a tree in a front yard, Nera screams and runs and hides and Nino will hide in places where he can actually leap out at me, who cares what the neighbours think!!?? They both have their own arm chairs (recliners of course) I can stretch out on the floor while my partner has the couch.
After work I try and sit and have a chat with my partner, but Nino likes to miaow as loud as he can whenever my partner is telling me a story, I end up listening to Nino.
Joyce says:
Tiger has the run of the house and definately runs my life. He decides when we wake up in the morning. He sleeps snuggled up into me at night. He knows when it’s time for TV and my lap every evening and is ready and waiting. He follows me around the house all day, sitting next to me or on me wherever I happen to be, and expects to be picked up for a cuddle whenever he feels like it, which is quite often, looking up at me just like a toddler would to let me know. We really do communicate. He tells me when he wants feeding, he has made all the water sources his own, such as the water feature and the bath tap, as well as his personal pussy bowls. Has his own pussy placemat and dish. Lets me know when and where he wants to be scratched, stroked, etc. He tells me when he wants to play. He’s on a special prescription only diet, which means only the occasional treat, but he certainly gets food on demand any time during the day. He likes to graze. No two meals a day for him. Food must be there all day. He lets me know when his dish is empty, and expects it to be filled immediately, which it does of couse. He’s a cat that wants and gets, constant attention. He’s my best friend and the most important “person” in my life. I won’t even go away on holiday, not even for a night, because he would be so miserable if I did. He even gets upset if I go out for the groceries, and wants cuddles unendingly when I get home again. We have a bond that I’ve never had with any other pet before, and never will. He’s special. He’s perfect. There will never be another Tiger. He deserves only the best, especially after the traumatic beginning he had for the first eighteen months of his life before I adopted him. Nothing can ever make up for that, but I’ll do whatever I can for him always. No cat deserves an igloo more than Tiger.

Cassandra says:
My mums cat is so spoilt, that my mum told me i would have to move out with my cat because hers didnt like us being in the house. So now my cat and i are basically homeless whilst my mums cat has her castle and servent (my mum).
Helen says:
I wish I had had a cat igloo! Recently one of my cats died. I had been feeding him for the past two years, on the table in the carport. Where he came from I have no idea. He would not let anyone touch him, was deaf and most teeth were missing. I did not have the heart to call the RSPCA to have him taken away. Instead I would give him his special cat milk every afternoon, and fed him whatever my cats were having twice a day. I would give him a new blanket every week, and make sure there was a fresh bowl of water each day. He would have liked the igloo to sleep in I’m sure. He went next door, laid on a rug in the sun and died peacefully. That was 8 days ago. It doesn’t seem the same with him not sitting on the table, patiently waiting.
Iain says:
Two cats both boys both red eat fresh meat kidneys and some dried. both sleep in their own spots fed twice a day, and walk thru the house from the back door to the front and make me open which ever they are at to let them out. I get no peace.
Annie says:
Since the world cup and the early telecasts, our kittens (7 and 6 months old) have now taken to wake us up at 4 am every morning expecting us to get up – oh and then its breakky time !! Only 4 years to knock that out of them until the next cup hey>!??! eek!?!?!?!
fran hughes says:
My daughter pampers our kitties to the point where i feel i have to meow or purr for her attention, and considering i pay the rent she seems to think that they all deserve a chair in the lounge room and a good slice of my bed. But they make her smile every day so who am i to complain…MEOW!!!!
Sharon Vandermolen says:
Our 5 cats (Bubbles(7yo), Blossom(7yo), Willow(4yo), Salem (2yo) & Graham(2yo)) sleep on and in the bed and have 3 meals a day with Whiskers kitty milk as a side dish.
There is no room for a coffee table in the lounge room as their tunnel and boxes are more important.
The hallway is a combat zone and our feet are the target, many an ambush is made from boxes and scratchy posts as I walk past them.
Blossom must be walked to the mailbox every morning, even when there is no mail.
Salem must have Beaker (remember the Muppets and the professors poor companion, Salem has a toy one) in his day bed at all times, his day bed that sits right in front of the heater and has a lovely fleecy blanket, that was supposed to go on our bed.
Bubbles must get cuddles when she wants them or look out hands, same with Blossom.
Graham just wants to be fed all day long.
Our 5 furry children rule the roost and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sensing Lily.
I SEE Lily asleep on the deb where the electric blanket is left on just for her.
I HEAR Lily scratching at the back door again – If she’s in, she wants out. If she’s out, she wants in.
I TASTE catfur – Lily’s long fur gets in my mouth as she smooches up to me for some love.
I SMELL fish breath. Lily’s favourite treat is ‘fishies’, but she’ll settle for canned tuna.
I FEEL Lily underfoot again – she trips me as she runs up the hall zig zagging through my legs.
But mostly I feel love in everything Lily does.
Rosie says:
I suspect my cat is Autistic. therefore her needs are most important.
She has 3 adults catering to her needs, day and night (the computer nerd has the night shift)
She scratches doors, beds, anything, rattles paper, plastics until we can’t stand the noise and take her to where her high quality food lies waiting or open doors for her a little wider to walk through.
Michelle says:
My Snowflake Burmilla loves to eat scones with jam and cream in bed with me.
dockris says:
Yes, our home is a Petocracy. We are their willing slaves. Five cats deign to inhabit our home (there were ten but time takes its toll). They will only eat the most expensive cans & dry food. They spend the day on their pet hammocks with the occasional stroll to check for snacks, and after dinner during the evening I am honoured by their close presence.
No knitting, reading or any other pursuits for me. I am covered head to toe with feline warmth and loud purrs. When bedtime comes, my chair is quickly filled by cats where I have quickly spread their shawls or blankets. The others select their chairs where their blankets await.
All is quiet, goodnight!
Roma says:
I have three cats and a dog, mostly we all live peaceably together , Catty however can be a trial. He is the youngest member of the family, and tries to take over. I had mostly c’s. They all sleep on my bed, unless I close the door on them. Then they knock till I open it. My legs and hands bear the scars where Catty (short for Catitude) has swiped or bitten me. I try to love him, even when he is naughty, but he stretches my tolerance at times. Can cats have ADD? I think he may have it. If the two others or dog are asleep, he will jump on them, or swipe them with claws out, and it is on for young and old. With me trying to be mediator. Friends have a name for him, but it is not repeatable!!!
Mary Rudd says:
My pussy has her own Facebook section, refuses to use the various ‘cat-flaps’ on different doors leading outdoors (adults are available to open doors – why use a flap like an ordinary cat???) and regardless what activity we are engaged in at any specific time – everything must stop for her!!!
She sleeps with her head on my pillow and her body under the doona – (just like a human – “isn’t she one???) – and sometimes takes the dog’s heated beds, just because she can!!
She shares a mocha chino coffee each morning with my husband before he goes to work (or, he get to share it with her), and her food labels are changed weekly because she gets bored with the same brand – which is only the best, anyway!!
If we go away for a brief holiday, she will NOT allow us to associate with her for at least one day – just to teach us that it is not OK to attend to our own desires and needs and put her second.
She doesn’t really require special attention because in her view, nothing is more special than her!
Sally says:
My baby won’t go to sleep unless I lay down with her. She has to have my hand nearby to rub against…. she owns ME!
Alexis says:
I have had the pleasure of being a slave to my cat, Petunia, for nearly 7 years. She sit’s for treats, is able to catch a soft ball or toy on command and is not afraid of getting her paws wet.
Kath says:
My cat wakes me at 4am to go to the litter box because she needs the light on to go and is a wee bit scared of the dark. She makes up for it by purring very very loudly in my ear for an hour afterwards – its so cute
DEIRDRE AYERS says:
Pooks the Chinchilla totally owns us (and her sister, Whizz the tabby). She sleeps with her head on my shoulder at night, wakes us up for breakfast (TD Dental and fresh tuna) and I work from home with her on my knee all day (like now). She is brushed twice a day, has her eyes cleaned twice a day and is cuddled silly – and so are we; she’s a very, very loving fluffball. We’re very lucky.
Stefania Cias says:
Chantilly is pampered most of all,

Brenda says:
We have 2 cats but one in particular demands a “Bartie House”. This house consists of propping the quilt up on our bed, with one of the fat pillows so he has a “house”. It is named a “Bartie House” because his name is Bart and he is much like his namesake – very cheeky and very full of ‘tude (short for cattitude) but we love him immensely. He has been a part of our lives for 8 years now and we’ve got used to being at his beck and call and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Amanda says:
My cat will only eat fresh chicken which is cut up in front of him. He always leaves one piece (apparently this shows exquisite manners). So I dutifully wait until he ‘tells’ me when he is hungry which is quite often and usually when it doesn’t suit me and all other pets have been fed. Alas, when he has deemed himself satisfied, he will then go and sit in the bath and wait for ‘his’ water bowl to be filled from the bath tap with fresh water. Only then is he satisfied. He then shows his thanks by sleeping his all 6kg which is all muscle (very large cat) on my stomach – apparently this is comfortable for him – not quite for me. Despite all this, I love him dearly and as he is 18, but still fit and healthy, can’t imagine what it would be like without him.
Rey Taafe says:
Shadow, in her old age, has decided she deserves to be hand-fed exclusively! She will not eat until the full attention is on her. As an old girl, she gets a heated bed, prime spot in front of the heater and the best food to keep her content.
Wiiz says:
I am a spritely 19 year old tortie. I demand Reikki as payment for the pleasure of my company. The “other” cats live outside in the cage (as I like to call it). They eat my scraps after I’ve made my humans open the 4th tin/sachet and then cooked me something fresh, all because I can. I have my own bed in the kitchen, spot by the heater, 2 beds with electric blankets to choose from (including the pillows) and frequently evict the human who thinks it is theirs. I have a trained tin, door and tap operator on call most of the time. And, YES, 3 in the morning is a good time to do a patrol of the front yard.
john k says:
My cats T bag and Mooch are awesome. T bag is tiny and Mooch is Huge. Mooch was found living under the house covered in paint and now he’s our awesome giant Orange cat. T bag sleeps on my bed while Mooch sleeps on the floor next to my bed..He would love his own bed.
Helen says:
My cat is spoilt she will only go to bed when i go to bed and she will only sleep on my pillow against my head , she only eats one certain brand of food as she is an extremly fussy eater and i spend so much money trying to get her to try new things but she just sticks to her chicken (wont eat no fish ) although she loves eating my food as well which is ridiculous at times as I will have to go make myself some more as she ate all mine ! I take her outside 3 times a day on a cat leash so she can get some fresh air . She has a ridiculous amount of play toys that she always has something to entertain her , she even sometimes comes for drives with me in the car as she hates leaving my side , she is and always be my spolit little princess

Sean Corrigan says:
My beautiful cat Little who is actually big now, wakes me every morning at 6am for here breakfast. if i don’t crawl out of bed to feed her, she will start pushing items off the table or shelves to get me out of bed. And when she does eat her three meals a day, she likes me to stay and watch her eat. She is a funny girl and i love her so very much
Rachel says:
I chose the home I purchased because it has a long hallway with floor boards, because Willow loves to thunder up and down the hall, sounding like a little furry pony. She howls until I start to play her game, where I stand near the kitchen, and toss one kitten crunchy down the hallway for her to chase and ‘catch’. It appears that I am at her beck and call, and I love it. Oh wait, Willow wants something. Better go.
Michelle Keleher says:
Bill was bossy and demanding from the day we adopted him at the size of a small rat. His routine is entrenched, e.g., when he surfaces from his bedroom he needs to say hello to everyone and then must have a nurse on a warm lap for 20 minutes or so. Then he wants food and he will wait at the cupboard door until someone feeds him. If we annoy him or frustrate him or if he is bored or nervous, he will attack the nearest family member. Frankly, we are scared of him. But he is loving 95% of the time and we would be devastated to lose our Brown Burmese Bill.
Jennafa Rosenblatt says:
Tora and Akira are two spoilt cats (princesses) who believe they own their masters (or slaves???)
Tora is from the pet shop while Akira is from a pound which gives them two distinct spoilt personalities. Tora likes to be pampered with food and toys whilst Akira sucks all the cuddles she can get from us. Akira gets the withdrawals though when we have to leave for work because she suffers from separation anxiety but Tora being the older one likes to take care of her younger sister while we are away on the conditions that:
The food bowl is filled morning and night.
Their water bowl is topped off with warm water.
Tora gets an occasional raw chicken snack.
Akira gets permanent cuddles.
Our laps are set aside for their bathing time and rest.
A session of throwing paper balls and laser games every night.
A weekend of walks at the park with their special leads.
They each have their own hot water bottles heated up night and day.
Leaving messages on the answering machine to tell them we love them everyday we are at work.
Skyping my parents who have a cat and getting the cats to chat to each other.
Setting up a perch by the window so they can watch the birds and action outside.
Cats Rule!
Claire Stipic says:
Poppet and Oliver are spoilt kitties! As Oliver is getting along in age he gets to determine when is inside and outside time. He also has 4 beds to choose from in several locations around the house (one of which he commandeered from the puppy!). At night, he likes to sleep under my doona covers preferably in the crook of my arm (and he also thinks that I should not move during the night so he can maintain his comfort!). Poppet likes to have a walkabout the local houses, so he has several people who spoil him and give him tasty morsels. Each night when he goes to bed he prefers to sleep on top of me, so will lie on my stomach or on my side and if I roll over he just repositions so he is lying on top of me again!
Kim says:
My cat will only drink filtered water. Seriously!?
Elizabeth Davey says:
my cat rules my house, she has the dogs convinced that she is their mother, and our kitten convinced that she is a dog.
Justin Frick says:
My cat is so pampered that she does not even walk anymore – Normally this is because my 3 yr old thinks that she prefers to be carried everywhere and I think Aggie (the cat) has just decided to go with the flow and dangles from her arms
Christine Williams says:
Our house is not a Petocracy, it just appears that way.
In reality we all choose to donate food off our plates without realising it.
We like to have our clothes sprinkled with white hair and be woken up at all hours.
We live to serve.
tammie says:
Charlie likes to watch TV in front of the fire on the lounge suite, so when Dad wants to watch TV too, he has to pull up a kitchen chair and sit way across the room! Despite being long haired, Ciel will only sleep under my doona with his little head on the left side of the pillow. Oh, and I have to make sure I heat a water bottle to warm the rest of the bed. Whilst Charlie is happy to eat fish all day every day, Ciel demands to eat whatever I eat (ever heard of a cat liking tofu and vegies??). I’d say my home is run like a Catocracy!
Barbara says:
I have three cats and yes I live in their house pay their bills get the Vet to visit when they are ill and shop each week for their favourite treats and food. If they want to sleep on the bed I manage to get a small space along the edge and I am on call every morning and night to wash and fill the food bowls. If its cold they want me to leave the heater on and they regulary go to the cat groomer to keep their coats nice and silky (why wash their own coat when I can get it done for them). I wouldn’t have it any other way I adore them and I am priviledged to be able to pat and pamper them and they love me unconditionally.
