Misty the Medically Miraculous, Million-dollar Moggie! Misty was a 5 week old “foundling”. She was wondering around my next door neighbour’s back yard & we heard her cries for help. She was the skinniest, ugliest, smallest kitten I’d ever seen. Her coat was thin, pale grey with splashes of ginger, a little ginger blaze above one eye. She had enormous ears and pointy face. She was riddled with fleas and worms. I fell in love immediately. None of the neighbours claimed ownership, so we kept her.
Misty grew into a beautiful, intelligent cat, full of “joie de vive”, gorgeous green eyes and a playful temperament. We were devastated when she disappeared one evening at dusk. We found her 2 hours later on our doorstep, obviously having been hit by a car.
We rushed her to the vet where her injuries included a smashed femur & ruptured urethra (we did know about this until much later). She survived the surgery to repair her leg beautifully. But when she developed a swelling on one side we knew we were up for another battle. Eventually, we made the decision to have her kidney removed (as opposed to having her put to sleep) as it was infected and the urethra irreparable.
Again, she made a remarkable recovery which is more than can be said for our credit card! We had a few further dramas with circulation to her injured leg, some damaged pads as she regained use of her foot, but all in all, after 6 months she was back to her old self. Misty’s favourite game is “leap mouse”. She will leap up to a meter in the air after a toy mouse. I know she won’t live as long as a she might have, but every day we spend with her is a blessing. We love you Missie!

That is a lovely and sad story of Missie. It is great to know that there are caring people like you who
took in a little lost kitten and gave her a loving and caring home. Missie might have been ugly but
they always turn out to be the most beautiful pets, It is heart warming to know how you looked after
Missie due to the accident and I wish her many, many years of happiness. Good luck to you all.
