This advice is, not surprisingly, the same advice your vet will give to you for your cat and also the same advice that is largely overlooked and put on the back burner considering the increasing rates of cancer, obesity, diabetes, and allergies among humans and cats. There are so many supplements for cats on the shelves today but we must remember that the best source of these vitamins, minerals, enzymes necessary for good health is in fresh food. Plus, this way she won’t beg at your feet during dinner and will hopefully be content with her own dinner for two.

It is probably best to alternate between homemade meals and packaged food throughout the week to ensure your cat is getting the essential mix of vitamins and of course variety.

- Onions, garlic, similar rooted vegetables
- Chocolate
- Grapes/raisins
- Green tomatoes, raw green potatoes
- Milk (not toxic but can have adverse effects, most cats are lactose intolerant. Try Catsip as an alternative)
