Looking its best
Every cat deserves to be a red-carpet creature and essential for looking its very best is good and regular grooming. Cats need to be groomed once a week particularly in Spring and Autumn when they moult, however longer furred cats will require more than one session per week.
Understanding cat fur
Cats are usually of the long-hair or short-hair variety. Short-hair cats appear more popular because the gene for short hair is dominant over that for long hair. Also it is an evolutionary tool – short hair in the wild is easier to maintain than long hair.

By nature, cats groom themselves. This is normal behaviour and, unless you have a show cat, it is unlikely they will require additional grooming. If they do stop grooming themselves regularly then take them to your vet.
