You should want the best for your pet – be it the best food, veterinarian care, or lifestyle. All of those are important just for basic needs but the little touches can add as much to your cats’ nine lives as the big gestures.

Some people think of the collar as a necklace to accentuate their cat’s inner personality. The easiest way to achieve this is by finding some cool colour or abstract pattern, but it’s possible to go further by adding a bell or some other charm next to the tag. Like clothes, it’s hard to find the right accessory to show the inner kitty because every cat has their own, individual style. Not all pet stores carry the trendiest collars and cat boutiques are hard to find, so sometimes it is easier to go online and do some searching for that special collar.

Sites like Empawrium are ideal for finding your cat that special article. If the name wasn’t cute enough to attract your attention, the online store offers a wide range of collars in trendy styles and their goal is for cruelty-free pet couture. The store offers collars for every occasion with names just as cheesy as their title. It’s as much chic your cat could ever want!

To offer that little bit extra, the store also has scarves for sale. While buying scarves for your cat is a cute idea, in the current economic climate it’s possible to use one of your own scarves, cut down to size. Just make sure the type of fabric isn’t an irritant to your cat, and the scarf can’t catch on anything around your home.

Have you found anything unique for your cat lately?

Does your beloved kitten sleep in bed with you? Then what better way to give them a gentle push out than to invest in a bed especially for them! Never before has there been such a wide range of colours and designs with which to pamper your cat, even while he or she is sleeping.

There is lots of choice in what kind of bed you can buy for your cat. There are different shapes, such as the modern-looking “igloo” or more traditional oval pillbox homes.

Designer Elizabeth Paige Smith has produced an item called the Kittypod, which is a bed and scratching post all-in-one. Bean bags are another option for relaxing. The range of colours available is as broad as your imagination. You can even get faux fur bedding for added comfort.

If DIY is more your thing, you can make your own bed for your cat. Try making a quick cat bed out of an old sweater, or you can go the crafter’s route are stock up on a few supplies for a higher quality hang-out.

The easiest way to go about it is to have a browse at the pet shop or through online stores for a style you like. Don’t forget to take into account any household allergies (your cat or your family).

When rehousing your cat, think about using a well-loved blanket to ease them into their new home. Your cat may end up embarrassed they ever slept in your daggy old bed!

Ladies you have to check this out! Check it out here

You know when you go to a restaurant, cafe or bar and you have to put your handbag down on the floor (only to get dirty), or keep it in your lap all night (only to be uncomfortable)?

Well that problem has now been solved to the joy of all us cat loving gals … and for under $20!!!!

I found a fab shop online that sells beautiful handbag hooks and lo and behold a design that was absolutely purrrrfect for me! I’m so happy about it that I just had to share it with all of you!

By the way, my bag weighs about 10 kilos and this gadget has no problem holding it up. It even came with a little black velvety pouch to keep it nice and safe in my purse. Cool!

One of the best pieces of wall decoration I know is of a loved pet. My grandmother has an embroidered picture their old cat in her kitchen. Though she (the cat) died many years ago, she still lives on in that hanging.

I am not too keen on embroidery myself so I am instead considering getting a good photograph of my cat to enlarge and frame. I am not much of a photographer so I am planning on hiring a pet photographer to get a good one for me.

Pet photography is not as unusual as one might think. There are lots of pet photographers around the country; this site lists a few of them.

If you are someone who likes to play around with the camera, or if you would rather spend your money on something other than a professional photographer, you can always do it yourself.

This website offers some great tips on pet photography, such as studying your cat during the day to find his or hers favourite things to do, and to put yourself on the same level as your pet. Both to fill up the frame and to maybe spark some creativity that might lead to better pictures.

Cats strutted their way down the runway in a feline fashion show held at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City this past month. The show raised money for an animal shelter and honored Matilda, the Algonquin’s resident cat. Following the cat theme of the night, cocktails with names such as “Purr-tini” were served alongside the show for $20.

The tradition of dubbing a house cat started in the 1930’s and Matilda has been the ninth cat since the tradition started. The feline fashion show was held on her birthday. The cats were dressed in costumes. One sported the Elvis look while others were more poised in sequined satin dresses.

Like all fashion shows, only certain cats made the cut. The Westchester Feline Club provided the “show-quality” cats and pet fashion company Meow Wear supplied the costumes.

There may not be a feline fashion show anytime soon in Australia, but you can always pamper your cat. Check out Pet Zympatico, an Australian based company that provides a variety of clothes and accessories for cats.

Not only are big name designers creating fashion lines for cats, now they’re creating furniture as well. It seems crazy that cat scratching posts and beds come in aesthetically pleasing patterns and styles that actually match our house and yet it is so.

The Sydney Morning Herald has some snapshots of what is in store for this spring and summer. Some of these pieces look like something I might actually buy for my house in general. The first studio cat nap beds could even double as scratching posts.

Ikea is now in on this scoop. They have everything from blankets to cat beds and dishes. Most of their stuff isn’t as cutting edge as what you see on the SMH but they’re nice enough for the price.

Moggy and Mutt has some fun bowls in atypical shapes and colours as well as beds and cat food tins. Not all of their products are on their web site but if you can stop into their boutique in Sydney, it’s definitely worth a look.

Every cat deserves to be a red-carpet creature and essential for looking its very best is good and regular grooming. Cats need to be groomed once a week particularly in Spring and Autumn when they moult, however longer furred cats will require more than one session per week. With regular brushing, you will learn to brush in a way your cat enjoys and soon your cat will look forward to grooming sessions. Grooming also gives you an opportunity to check the cat for fleas, lumps and the like which are damaging to its health.

A full clean involves:

regular grooming

combing

brushing

claw-clipping

bathing

Read more about it here.

This site offers instructions on how to bathe a cat whereas ‘Mollycoddled Pets’ has a range of grooming products you can have a look at to get an idea of the kinds of things your pet might need.

At first, cat grooming may seem like a tedious task but it will become something that both you and your cat will enjoy. Take it as a chance to spend more time with your cat –grooming will benefit your cat’s health and make it fit to walk the red carpet!

I’ve been looking for a bed for my cat because she seems to roam a bit freely and then collapse wherever she feels comfortable. This would be fine if she wasn’t so furry! I’m trying to reduce the amount of fluff that is deposited in every place that she sleeps, so I thought if I get her a bed of her ownthen my problem would be solved!

Well one problem seems to lead to another. While looking around for beds I came across the vast range of possibilities. There are Snooza Igloos which encase the cat like they’re in, well, an igloo. Or I could go for the flat bed design of which there are a million to choose from. And then I found this site which has some of the most ridiculous beds that I could think of to buy. I mean I have heard of ‘Puss in Boots’ but this goes too far!

So I am back where I began, and to be honest, some of these beds look uglier than the fluff deposits! I think I might just put up with the fluff and keep putting down sheets on the furniture. At least that way I’m guaranteed that she will sleep on them and I won’t have wasted anymore time – as well as money!

Try as I might, I can’t resist my Cat. I try to treat him like the feline, house-sitting ball of fur that he is, but I just can’t help myself when he stares at me with those big, amber globes. I spoil the pants off him! So now, I think, its time to keep some pants on for a change.

I never had myself pegged as one of those “dresses their pets” types, but honestly, its very smart and fashionable! All you need is some easily washable material, elastic, press studs, sewing thread, paper to draw your pattern on and voila, stud pants!

You can choose a whole range of materials varying in texture, pattern and colour to suit your cat’s personality. My cat is a typical lazy, fat, house cat, so I went with a nice amber velour to really offset those eyes.

Go the whole nine yards and purchase him or her a nice t-shirt to complement or contrast (depending on what look you’re going for) their cool new pants. Some designs are available from http://cat-products.cats-central.com/cattshirts.html or just create your own.

For the exact details and measurements on how to style your cat visit this site.
