Purrs for Thought
Here’s a purr-fect way to raise money – without lifting a paw!
You might be familiar with the ‘Million Paws Walk’, an event held every year by the RSPCA to raise funds and awareness for stray dogs. Well, for the first time the fundraiser has now been extended to include cats as well… in the form of the ‘Million Purrs Walk’!
Of course, if your cat is like some of the ones we know (Scout included!), you’ve got Buckley’s of coercing kitty to walk with you and a million other cat owners for any length of time. The glare you would receive from dear moggy for even suggesting such a demeaning activity would surely quash those plans.
Fortunately, the RSPCA understands this fundamental difference between the species and that is why, for the Million Purrs campaign, they’re trying something a little different. Instead of a physical walk with your cat, the RSPCA invites you to create a ‘cat avatar’ – a virtual cat to resemble the real-live inspiration for it.

Once you’ve created your avatar, he or she is then able to explore its very own virtual world while your friends and families donate by buying virtual presents such as catnip, a ball of string or a shiny new bell for its collar. All proceeds support the ongoing work of the RSPCA.
With over 154,000 animals finding shelter at the RSPCA annually, Million Purrs provides vital fund raising to help support all creatures great and small. In the past year, the RSPCA has cared for over 66,000 cats across Australia. By supporting Million Purrs, you can help them find new homes for as many cats as possible. The best part is, you don’t even have to be a cat owner to participate!
